Updated Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings

At this point in the season, we have a ton of data to help us make our lineup decisions. Below are the top 5 teams in points allowed per position per game. This is particularly helpful when discussing streaming positions like Quarterback, Tight End, and D/ST. I tend to play a different D/ST each week. Hopefully, you have a Quarterback and Tight End that you can plug and play. If not, do not worry. I have some great streaming options that could potentially win you your week.

Rank (PPG) QB RB WR TE K D/ST
32 Buccaneers Panthers Vikings Chiefs Falcons Titans
31 Jaguars Bills Ravens Panthers Saints Raiders
30 Ravens Jaguars Lions Rams Cowboys Giants
29 Bengals Cowboys Jaguars Colts Dolphins Browns
28 Panthers Patriots Buccaneers Ravens Panthers Saints

QB, Sam Darnold – Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts (22nd)

Sam Darnold is this year’s comeback story and he is playing like an MVP. Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs even put him in the top-five Quarterbacks conversation over Dak on their podcast. He has been really good for fantasy football as well. It helps when you have Justin Jefferson and Kevin O’Connell. Getting Jordan Addison and Aaron Jones back healthy has been a boost as well. The team just traded for a new left tackle following the loss of Christian Darrisaw. The Colts are a fantastic matchup and Joe Flacco might even make them more fantasy-friendly.

QB, Bo Nix – Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens (30th)

Bo Nix is 4th at the Quarterback position in Rushing Yards this season. He has 259 yards and 4 rushing Touchdowns. Nix is quietly having a very good year for the 5-3 Denver Broncos. Of course, Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams are the headliners, but Nix needs some love. Last week I had Bo Nix in the top 10 of my fantasy football rankings. I like him again this week in a plus matchup. Baltimore lost a ton of coaches and players this offseason, specifically on defense. They also have a young, banged-up secondary. Bo Nix is my stream of the week.

QB, Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks (19th)

The Los Angeles Rams season turned around last week. They could realistically be tied for 1st place in the division with a win this week and a loss by Arizona. This team was rumored to be having a fire sale this time last week. Puka returned and the mood changed. This team started the season off by losing four offensive linemen and both of their top pass catchers. They are getting healthy and Matthew Stafford is the biggest winner. Stafford will be slinging it with the breakfast club back in action.

Deeper Options:  Jameis Winston vs. Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are not as good of a matchup as the Ravens were last week, but I still like Winston. We saw the instant impact he had on the offense when he came in Week 7 at the end of the game. Last week we saw him throw for 334 and 3 touchdowns. Four different Browns have 5 receptions or more this week. We saw the Joe Flacco effect last year and this could be dejavu. David Njoku is back as a must-start and Cedric Tillman is heating up, start Winston.

TE, T.J. Hockenson – Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts (29th)

TJ Hockeson is back and that means he is back in our fantasy football rankings. But, how high are we on him this week?  The Vikings are reporting that Hockenson will not be limited this weekend. The matchup is great and we know this is a talented player who was the team’s #2 target the last two seasons. You can do a lot worse than starting T.J. Hockenson this week and know he has massive upside. Play to win the game and instead of taking a safe option, swing for the fences with Hock.

TE, Taysom Hill – New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (31st)

The Carolina Panthers are the 2nd best option for tight ends. But, Taysom Hill isn’t a traditional receiving tight end. Correct, the Carolina Panthers are also great targets for Running Backs and Quarterbacks. The top three running backs are all injured. Alvin Kamara is dealing with a hand injury and they would love to give him some rest. Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams are both expected to be out this week.  The situation is too good and has Taysom Hill blow-up week written all over it.

TE, Hunter Henry – New England Patriots vs. Tennessee Titans (5th)

The Tennessee Titans have been good against the tight end position this season. But, over the last two weeks, we have seen this change quite a bit. They had not played many top tight ends yet.  Two weeks ago, Dalton Kincaid had 3 receptions for 52 yards. Last week we saw the Detroit Lions tight ends combine for 7 receptions 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. This team has already traded away two starters. New England is back to Jacoby this week and he has been good with Henry this year.

Deeper Options:  Will Dissly vs. Denver Broncos

D/ST – Washington Commanders at New York Giants (30th)

The New York Giants played the Washington Commanders tough earlier this season. They were playing much better until they lost Andrew Thomas. During the last two weeks without Andrew Thomas, this offensive line has regressed hard. The same can be said about Daniel Jones, who was playing well for a few weeks. Malik Nabers did not play well on Monday following his two-week absence with a concussion. Tyrone Tracy is expected to miss and this offensive line and Daniel Jones are a streaming option target.

D/ST – Cincinnati Bengals vs. Las Vegas Raiders (31st)

The Las Vegas Raiders are a really bad team and they look to be preparing for a firesale. They benched Gardner Minshew and now have to turn back to him following Aidan O’Connell being put on the injured reserve. Davante Adams has been traded and this offense keeps getting worse. This is a plus matchup for the Bengals defensive line, expect a lot of pressures and sacks.

D/ST – New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (25th)

Getting Derek Carr back on offense is a big help for this defense. Spencer Rattler has been awful and the matchups against the Chargers and Broncos were tough. Bryce Young is back in the lineup and the team just traded away Diontae Johnson. This should be a bounce-back game for the Saints who have struggled since their 2-0 start.

Deeper Option: Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots or New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans
