Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – October 19
Carlos Rodon – Higher than 4.5 Hits Allowed
Rodon has been over this mark in four of his last six games. The last one was because he was virtually unhittable, but the only one that stayed lower prior was because he didn’t go deep into the game. With as much as the Yankees have been using their bullpen – 14.0 innings over the last three games – I expect them to lean on Rodon as a starter that can go deep. That should give him plenty of opportunities to give up five hits.
Josh Naylor – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
Naylor hasn’t had the best postseason – going just 8-for-38 (.211) over nine games. However, half of those hits have come in the last three games against the Yankees. Some of that is due to the Guardians getting more times through the order, but he’s also seeing the ball quite a bit better. This projection is probably a bit lower as a result of the tough pitching matchup, but he should see at least one reliever in there at minimum as well.
Andres Gimenez – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
Other hitter who was cold that has woken up lately is Andres Gimenez. He’s putting up a very similar 7-for-33 (.212) line in October. However, he has feasted on the Yankees comparitively. Six of those seven hits have come in the last five games – which is a .316 mark in that stretch. With the series on the line on Saturday, I expect him to stay hot in Cleveland.
