Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots Preview and Predictions

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots Preview and Predictions

Another division matchup for NFL Week 5 in the AFC East with two teams who are struggling at the moment. The Miami Dolphins head to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots. After their Week 1 upset victory against the Bengals, the Patriots are looking like the team many bettors expected to see this season. Meanwhile, the quarterback carousel continues for the Dolphins with Tua being out with a concussion. Tyler Huntley gets his second start for the Dolphins looking to bounce back after looking a bit rusty against the Titans. Below are my Dolphins vs. Patriots Preview and Predictions.

As we are aware, the Dolphins continue to look for an answer in the absence of Tua. Skyler Thompson is dealing with an injury and Tyler Huntley gets his second start. Huntley was put in a tough spot coming over to a new team and trying to learn the playbook. I believe another week of practice will only help Huntley for the Dolphins offense.

The Patriots are also contemplating not only a quarterback change but also a running back change. Coach Jerrod Mayo of the Patriots said there could be a possibility that Antonio Gibson could outcarry Rhamondre Stevenson. Furthermore, the Dolphins injuries continue to pile up on the defense. Both Jaelan Phillips and Jordan Poyer have not practiced up till Thursday. The good news for the Dolphins is that Odell Beckham Jr. practiced this week and could make his season debut.

A huge concern for the Patriots remains the cluster injuries to the offensive line. The question becomes can the Dolphins generate enough pressure to Jacoby Brissett? Additionally, Tyler Huntley getting another week of practice with the Dolphins is only a plus. This is the time when Coach McDaniels earns his money and puts together a positive game plan.

We saw the frustration Tyreek Hill had on the sidelines and I believe there will be ways he gets involved in the game. Furthermore, the Patriots are traveling back to the East Coast after a game in San Francisco last week. Despite it being a short week for the Dolphins I expect them to bounce back in this game.

Best Bet: Dolphins +1

Tyler Huntley Over 160.5 Passing Yards

Another week of practice is only beneficial for Tyler Huntley. As I mentioned above, this gives Coach McDaniels an opportunity to have more success on the offensive side. 50% of this yardage could come on a deep pass to Tyreek Hill. There were multiple opportunities last week for Huntley to connect with Hill and Waddle I believe this happens this week. Lastly, over the last three weeks, opposing quarterbacks have thrown for 280+ yards against the Patriots.
