Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top Streaming Options

Quarterback play has been down all around the league, maybe Joe Burrow should make the streaming list. Derek Carr and Baker Mayfield are the top-2 fantasy football quarterbacks right now. Burrow is ranked higher and should be, the matchup this week is pristine. But, my streaming options will be player ranked as fringe starter per the FantasyPros Expert Consensus Rankings. Defenses get easier to pick as we get more Quarterbacks injured and recognize defenses to target. Here are my updated Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings

QB, Justin Fields – Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Baker Mayfield was my stream of the week last week, he turned in a QB2 overall finish. The Commanders were a plus matchup, so there is a little pumping of the breaks. But, I don’t understand why the FantasyPros ECR has him at QB14 right now. Mayfield has a great set of weapons, including both of his running backs.  He has his confidence back and a great connection with Mike Evans. Mayfield should be a top-10 option this week against a Detroit Lions secondary that can be beat.

QB, Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks vs. Miami Dolphins

Geno Smith regressed in 2023 and let a lot of us down. This year he has been rebounding under new Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubbs. Last week we saw Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerge and the team heavily targeted him. This is a great trio of weapons for Geno Smith. Ken Walker looks to be out again this week, we could see the team air it out a little more against Miami. The Dolphins offense may struggle to move the ball under Skylar Thompson, Geno should benefit.

QB, Gardner Minshew – Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers

This team has been passing the ball a lot and Minshew has been playing well. Both Davante Adams and Brock Bowers have been consistent fantasy options. This week they get a soft matchup and Minshew will have his way with them. With the emergency of Bowers, Minshew becomes more interesting as a fantasy option. He is a deeper option for your Superflex or 2-QB leagues.

TE, Mike Gesicki – Cincinnati Bengals vs. Washington Commanders

Mike Gesicki is off to a hot start and it could be even better if that touchdown Week 1 wasn’t called back. Washington is an ELITE matchup, they made Daniel Jones look good last week. Joe Burrow should have his way and Gesicki’s role on this offense. Tee Higgins may return, but we don’t know how limited he will be. But, this team has historically used the tight end well and Gesicki is here to stay. Currently a top-5 fantasy football tight end and he might still be available in your leagues.

TE, Pat Freiermuth – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Los Angeles Chargers

This team lacks a consistent option being George Pickens. Freiermuth is currently the #11 fantasy football tight end and has been targeted four times each week. I know we all hated to see that Darnell Washington Touchdown last week, but love to see this consistent involvement. He lead the team in receiving yards last week and he will continue to be one of their top-options moving forward.

TE, Zach Ertz – Washington Commanders vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Kliff Kingsbury loves Zach Ertz and he is currently the fantasy football #8 Tight End this season. Ertz has been less than flashy, but his 4 targets per week offer a floor. This team doesn’t have a clear-cut #2 wide receiver option and Ertz continues to see consistent involvement.

D/ST – Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have been the best target for fantasy D/STs so for this year. Will Levis has a bonehead highlight each week,. Levis and this passing game have been struggling to get it going. Right now that has lead to sacks, turnovers, and not many points. The Packers are a good defense and have played well in two tough matchups. Look for them to put up points in an A+ matchup.

D/ST – Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears have yet to score a passing touchdown. They have struggled to run the ball as well and this team is really struggling. Caleb Williams took a lot of big hits last week and this Colts defensive front is tough. The Colts are widely available and a defense to consider streaming this week.

D/ST – Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers

Carolina has benched Bryce Young and that might actually be a good thing for them. But, this is still the Carolina Panthers and this is Andy Dalton. I am going to continue to confidently target them. They have one of the bottom offensive lines and their defense is awful. This offense will be in passing situations as they chase points a lot. The more they throw, the more opportunities for Maxx Crosby to make his presence known.

D/ST – Seattle Seahawks at Miami Dolphins

The Seattle Seahawks are playing really well under new Head Coach Mike MacDonald. Miami’s offense will now be lead by Skylar Thompson and Seattle will look to take advantage of that. This defensive line has a plus matchup per PFF. This Miami Dolphins’ offense doesn’t look the same on the schedule this week. They will be a team to target moving forward.
