Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – September 6
Ryan McMahon – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
As we head into Friday’s action, I’m loving how hot Ryan McMahon is. Despite facing a slew of good pitchers, he has a hit in each of his last six games. He also has a hit in ten of his last eleven. That already gives me confidence in the projection, which is just 0.5 total bases. Now we can add a favorable pitching matchup to that mix. He faces Frankie Montas, who he has a 4-for-9 (.444) career batting average against, with half of those hits going for extra bases. I might even be confident with the 1.5 total bases if it came down to it.
Gio Urshela – Higher than 1.5 Total bases
Gio Urshela has been a different man since signing with the Braves. With the Tigers DFA’d him in August, he was hitting just .243 with 16 extra base hits in 92 games (or one in every 5.75 games). Fast forward to him in a Braves uniform – he’s hitting .280 and already has four extra base hits in just 14 games (or one in every 3.5 games). He’s been over this projection in half of his last dozen games.
Lawrence Butler – Higher than 0.5 Total bases
Butler is the owner of the longest active hit streak in the MLB. He’s been on the board in 15 straight games and this projection just means he’ll need to make it 16 to get this to hit. In that time, he’s hitting .393 with eight homers, which yields a .885 slugging percentage. That’s way too hot to think that he can’t make this happen
