Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick’em Plays – September 3

Jake Burger Higher Than 7.5 Fantasy Points

Jake Burger has been one of the bright spots for the Marlins since the All-Star break. The team sold off many of their players in preparation for a full rebuild. Since the All-Star break Burger’s 1.012 OPS ranks eighth in all of baseball. He has cooled down a bit in his last two weeks of action, but I really like his matchup tonight.

On Tuesday, the Marlins will face National’s starter Patrick Corbin. Corbin had his best start of 2024 in his last outing against the Yankees, and I’m betting against him being that effective again. Burger has 9 home runs against LHP this season, and he very well can hit one in this spot.

Jose Ramirez Higher Than 8.5 Fantasy Points

J-Ram has put together yet another 100 RBI campaign and has been consistently productive since his breakout in 2016. Ramirez and the Guardians will face Brady Singer and the surging Royals tonight in what might be a crucial game in the AL Central race. Ramirez has faced Singer quite a bit in his career and has been pretty successful.

12-25 with 2 doubles and 3 homers is what you want to see when you’re making a “higher than” selection. A huge month of September for J-Ram would be huge for the scuffling Guardians.

Walker Buehler Higher Than 5.0 Hits Allowed

Things have not exactly gone Walker Buehler’s way since returning from injury. The former top prospect and ace has struggled immensely this season. He is 1-4 with a 5.88 ERA. Not great, especially for someone in a contract year. Buehler is facing the Angels lineup which is not great, but his ERA on the road balloons to 8.84.

Not to mention, he has allowed more than 5 hits in six of his last eight starts. I think the only way this play isn’t a winner is if Buehler gets pulled from the game for control issues.
