Despite the Phillies struggles in the month of August it has been a different story for Kyle Schwarber. Schwarby is hitting .302 with an OPS of 1.095 in August. On Friday, the Phillies will face one of the worst pitchers in baseball in Patrick Corbin.
Whether it’s his 5.98 ERA on the season, 6.68 ERA on the road, or 6.00 ERA against the Phillies this season, you can look at almost any metric here, and it’s not going to look good for Corbin in this matchup.
Not to mention, Schwarby is 6-18 in his career against Corbin with 2 home runs, a .425 xBA, and a 96.7 MPH average exit velocity.
Jake Burger Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Jake Burger is the definition of red hot right now. The 28-year-old is 10-20 in his last five games with 4 home runs. He is facing a Mets team that has struggled as of late. Burger also loves facing the Mets’ starter Sean Manaea. In a small sample size, he is 2-5 with a home run and an average exit velocity of 100.
I think this is as close to a lock as you can get with Burger vs. Manaea and a weak Mets bullpen on Friday.
