Daily Copa America Underdog Fantasy Plays – July 2
Alisson Higher Than 0.5 Goals Allowed
If their last match against Paraguay is any indication, this Brazil side is starting to come to life. They seem to have forgotten about their lackluster draw against Costa Rica, and the goals are coming.
Tuesday night, they will need a win over Colombia if they want to finish atop the group. It can definitely happen, but the Colombians aren’t just going to roll over. Our value-hunting glasses are on, and we see an opportunity on the Brazilian goalkeeper, Alisson.
Alisson plays his club soccer for Liverpool in the English Premier League. He is a constant between the sticks, but he has a tendency to be a bit sluggish with the ball at his feet.
Meanwhile, the Colombians have been scoring in buckets at Copa America and will want to top the group. Although Brazil have only conceded once in the Group Stage, I can’t see them keeping Colombia off the scoresheet tonight.
So, we’re hedging against the Brazilian keeper by taking Alisson to allow Higher Than 0.5 Goals against Colombia.
Camilo Vargas Higher Than 3.5 Saves
For my money, the Colombians have looked like the best squad at this Copa America tournament. They have scored goals from all facets of play and defended rigorously. Their roster has a few big names, but they play together as a team.
And Tuesday night, they’ll want to win their third Group Stage match over rival Brazil. It will not be easy, and for that reason, we think Colombian keeper Camilo Vargas will be under siege.
Vargas makes his club soccer home for Liga MX side Atlas. In the Copa America, he kept a clean sheet against Costa Rica and allowed just one goal against Paraguay.
But with all due respect to those two teams, Brazil is a completely different animal. The Brazilians should attack relentlessly tonight, and I would anticipate Vargas being called into action many times.
So, we’re sticking with the goalkeeper theme on Tuesday night. Go ahead and take Camilo Vargas to make Higher Than 3.5 Saves against the Brazilians.
