The Quick Pick: Daily Copa America Underdog Fantasy Plays – June 27
Weston McKennie Higher Than 0.5 Fouls
The US Men’s National Team is starting to show some signs of serious life across their last few fixtures. However, those of us who are close to this team know that’s usually when the ground falls beneath our feet.
They are now 3-1-1 in their last five games and even got a result against the Brazilians. Copa America has proven itself to be a physical game, and whenever the US and Panama meet, it’s no different. Our value-hunting glasses are on, and we are picking out US midfielder Weston McKennie.
Tonight’s matchup will be inside Mercedes Benz Arena in Atlanta, GA. Panama needs at least a draw to be serious about advancing out of the group. I fully expect them to attack the US and be ruthless in defense.
For that reason, the battle in the midfield should see plenty of fouls and heightened tempers. McKennie has also committed at least one foul in each of his last two games.
With it all to play for, Wes is usually the guy on this team who is not afraid to commit a tactical or bone-crunching foul. Let’s go ahead and take Weston McKennie Higher Than 0.5 Fouls with this first Underdog entry.
Federico Valverde Higher Than 0.5 Shots on Target
In the nightcap fixture of Group C, the Uruguayans will take on the rather outmatched Bolivians. Coming into this Copa America, I pegged the Uruguayans as my best bet to win. In their first match, they netted three goals and made light work of Panama.
Tonight, it could be an even bigger trouncing and I expect nothing less than a Uruguay win. For the Thursday banger’s purpose, we’re going to focus on midfielder Federico Valverde.
The 25-year-old midfielder plays his club soccer at Real Madrid, so you may have heard of him. Joking aside, this is a decorated player with the ability to take on defenders and score from outside the box.
There will be wide open spaces against the opposition tonight, so Valverde should have some windows for shots on net. And he shouldn’t need to track back all too often, as Uruguay should dominate possession. So, let’s grab Federico Valverde to go Higher Than 0.5 Shots on Target and cash this damn banger!
