Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – June 24
Jarred Kelenic – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
With the Braves offense faltering and injuries piling up, Kelenic has been a huge relief for the Braves. They moved him to the leadoff spot, and he’s ripped off a ten-game hitting streak that he kept active on Sunday. What’s more impressive about that streak is how many times he’s gone over this projection. He’s had two or more total bases in each of his last four games, and he’s done so in six of the ten games in the hitting streak. With Lance Lynn on the hill, he gets a lefty-righty matchup. Between that and how hot he’s been, I think this is an easy play.
Matt Waldron – Lower than 5.5 Hits Allowed
Waldron has been the talk of the town thanks to his knuckleball, but regardless of the novelty, he’s been great this year. HE has a 3.46 ERA and a respectable 1.16 WHIP. Also, while he’s been going deeper into games, he hasn’t had problems with the hits racking up. In fact, in his four starts this month, he’s yet to go over this projection. That includes picking up the win in a seven-inning effort against the Phillies last time out. While the Nationals have been better than expected, I don’t rate them higher than Philadelphia.
Wyatt Langford – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
Not sure why, with as hot as Langford has been, the projection is still here. I would like him at 1.5 total bases as well. The reason is simple, he’s seeing the ball extremely well right now. He has just one strikeout in the last four games and has a streak of hitting that makes that even more impressive. In his last five games, he has 17 total bases. He’s had an extra base hit in all five of those games including two homers. Regardless as to who is pitching, I’d ride this hot hand.
