Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 29
Yordan Alvarez – Lower than 1.5 Total Bases
Yordan Alvarez had a two-hit game on Tuesday night, which marked the first time he had been over this projection in a four-game stretch. In those four games, he has not had a single extra-base hit. That won’t get any easier on Wednesday as he faces George Kirby. Despite having the opposite-hand advantage with Kirby, Alvarez is a career 1-for-10 against the Mariners’ righty with four strikeouts and no walks. That’s not exactly the line you want to see when trying to get back on the board with some bombs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
On the complete opposite side of the spectrum is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. In his last six games, he’s gone for 16 total bases, which comes out to 2.67 per game. In addition to that being well above the projection here, he also gets a favorable pitching matchup. Chris Flexen has been tagged badly in his last three outings and doesn’t have a good history with Guerrero Jr. Baby Vlad is 4-for-10 off of his career and has a couple of walks and a sacrifice fly to go with it.
Jordan Young – Lower than 0.5 Total Bases
acob Young was a name on everybody’s radar not all that long ago. He put together a six-game hitting streak earlier this month and had multiple two-hit games in there. Since then, he has a hit in just one of his last six games. That was a three-hit game, but that looks rather flukey when all is said and done. The Braves throwing rookie Spencer Schwellenbach, who has no major league experience, should only make it harder for Young to adjust here.
