Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 16
Aaron Judge Higher than 0.5 Batter Walks
Aaron Judge has been on an absolute tear as of late. Last night, he had the best game of the season, going 4-4 with a 467-foot home run and 3 doubles en route to a Yankees 4-0 win over the Twins. Despite entering May with an OPS in the .700s, Judge now has .926 OPS, which is good for 9th in baseball. He also has 11 home runs and 29 RBIs. He already has 5 home runs and 11 RBIs in May. AND IT IS ONLY MAY 16TH!
Considering Judge has killed the Twins all series, I think they’ll opt to put him on base once or twice in this one to try to salvage a win in this three-game set. Although Twins starter Joe Ryan has walked just 6 batters in his 8 starts this season, Judge leads the league with 33 walks. I’m looking for the Twins to stay away from Judge today!
Alex Bregman Higher than 7.0 Fantasy Points
Bregman and the Astros have been struggling this season—until late. Granted, the Stros are in the midst of a four-game set with the A’s, but they have won four in a row. Bregman has played some of his best ball as of late too. He has 3 home runs and 6 RBIs in the series so far. You would have to think Bregman can keep it going against the struggling A’s pitching staff, who will be outmatched in this face-off against Houston.
Mookie Betts Higher than 9.0 Fantasy Points
I can get into how great Mookie Betts continues to be this season, but I think everyone already knows that. The 31-year-old is putting up some of the best numbers throughout the first two months of any season in his career. On Thursday, Betts and the Dodgers take on the struggling Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are throwing a bullpen game, and their bullpen is not the strongest to begin with. I think the stars are aligning for a huge Mookie game in this spot.
