Round 2 of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is here, and we have to take a look at the Underdog Fantasy board. After the delay on Thursday, the greens still played fairly firm, while the fairways were extremely soft. Jason Day Higher Than 3.5 Bogeys
Day had a nice “day” with a score of 68 in round one which has him in a tie for fifth heading into the weekend. Sadly for Day, he did it all with the short game. After 18 holes, he is in the red in terms of strokes gained ball striking. His scoring comes from being second in strokes gained around the greens and eighth in strokes gained putting.
Day surely is a great short-game player, but he is not in the best of form, and it is because of poor ball striking. I believe this will catch up to him sooner than later. Sam Burns Higher Than 71 Strokes
The firmer and faster it gets, the tougher it will be for Sam Burns. Burnsy is a winner, but he has made his hay on easier tracks and has always gone backward on big-boy golf courses. He shot even par today and did not hit the driver well, which can catch up to him in a hurry. I believe Burns will get himself into trouble off the tee and have him scrambling from the jump.
