MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 30

San Francisco Giants vs. Boston Red Sox

First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Fenway Park – Boston, Massachusetts
Broadcast – NESN

The Red Sox aren’t exactly throwing their ace out there on Tuesday in Cooper Criswell. However, Criswell was effective last time out against some solid competition. He held the Guardians, who are 7th in the MLB in runs per game, scoreless over five innings. To get us the NRFI, all he’ll need to do is hold San Francisco for an inning – which has been rather easy. San Francisco hasn’t scored a first inning run in three games and is ranked 28th in the category on the season.

Logan Webb is looking to do his part to keep the Red Sox scoreless. He carries a 2.33 ERA into Tuesday’s action and hasn’t allowed an earned run in two and a half weeks. Although the Red Sox’s offense has been surprisingly good, they’ve been a touch worse at home. I trust Logan Webb to keep things in check and get the NRFI.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 30: No (-145)

Kansas City Royals vs. Toronto Blue Jays

First Pitch – 7:07 pm EST
Rogers Centre – Toronto, Ontario
Broadcast – MLB TV

Maybe surprisingly, Toronto has been one of the worst run scoring teams in the majors this year. They are averaging just 3.55 runs per game, which puts them in 27th in the league. Now they’ll have the bad fortune of running into flame-thrower Cole Ragans. Ragans’ stats have slipped a bit as of late, but he had a great start last time out against the Blue Jays. He threw a complete game in a rain-shortened five inning affair while allowing just one run.

On the other hand, the Royals have been a league average offense. However, Jose Berrios has been anything but average on the mound this year. He has a league-best (amongst qualified starters) 1.23 ERA. He also threw a complete game in the rain-shortened game last week and allowed two earned. Those were the first two runs he had allowed since April 2nd, so I like his odds to help keep this NRFI alive.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 30: No (-130)
