Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 27

Teoscar Hernandez – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Hernandez feasts off of Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi. In 11 career at-bats, he has six hits, which equates to a .546 batting average. I also like that he hasn’t been walked in that sample because that can sometimes surpress the chance to meet a total base projection. What doesn’t surpress it is extra-base hits. In those six hits that he has off of Kikuchi, three of them are for extra bases – two doubles and a homer.

Ryan Mountcastle – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Here’s another look that I like thanks to the head-to-head matchup. Mountcastle has faced JP Sears 11 times as well. He has one walk to go along with five hits. Like Hernandez, that sample is filled with extra-base hits. Two of the five are home runs, which leads him to a 1.100 slugging percentage.

Aaron Civale – Higher than 17.5 Pitching Outs

Civale has finished the 6th inning in three of his five starts on the year. Those starts came against Blue Jays, Rangers and Angels. All three of those teams have one important thing in common – they are much better at hitting than the White Sox. I supposed that’s not hard to say with how bad Chicago has been this season (2.50 runs per game), but it’s enough to love this projection here.
