Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 15
Charlie Blackmon – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Blackmon has been off to a solid start on this short season. In 14 games he’s totaled six extra-base hits thus far. He has been cold for a couple games, but if there’s anyone to break him out of that, it’s Aaron Nola.
On his career, Blackmon is 11-for-27 against Nola (.407). Furthermore, six of those 11 hits are for extra bases. I could see him getting a pair of singles here, but one double or better isn’t out of the question either.
Kyle Schwarber – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Schwarber didn’t have a hit last night, but had entered that game with hits in four straight. He’ll have the pleasure of facing Cal Quantrill, who has been shakey on the season. The two have faced off 11 times in their respective careers and Schwarber has three hits in that span. All three of them have been home runs.
Frankie Montas – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Montas hasn’t gone over this number yet in three starts on the year, but he’s pressed right up against it. He’s had two games with four strikeouts and another with five. The boost he needs to get over that hump is facing Seattle. They are 28th in the majors in strikeouts with 10.44 per game. Those numbers should lead to an extra chair or two for Montas.
