Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 4
Bryan Reynolds Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Bryan Reynolds and the red-hot Pittsburgh Pirates face off against the Nationals on Thursday. On the bump for Washington will be 26-year-old Josiah Gray. Gray struggled mightily in his first outing in 2024 against Cincinnati. He gave up 8 hits and 7 earned runs in just 4.0 innings pitched.
On the contrary, Bryan Reynolds has been swinging a hot bat to start out the 2024 season. He is 6/28 with 8 RBIs already. Reynolds also has excellent numbers against Gray, and with smaller season sample sizes, I’ll be sticking with matchup favorability.
Reynolds is 4/8 in his career off Gray with a double and a home run. I’m counting on a huge Reynolds game on Thursday!
Jazz Chisolm Jr. Higher than 7.0 Fantasy Points
The winless Marlins travel to St. Louis to take on Lance Lynn and the Cardinals on Thursday. It was a huge shock to many when the Cardinals decided to bring in Lance Lynn in the offseason. To Lynn’s credit, he pitched four innings of scoreless ball in his first outing of the year against the Dodgers.
Four innings is nothing to write home about, but if you watched Lance Lynn pitch last season, it is a huge step in the right direction. Chisolm, on the other hand, is struggling to start this season. The good news for Jazz and Marlins fans is that Chisolm is 2/3 in his career off Lynn with a home run and 3 RBIs.
I’m sensing a huge Jazz game and a possible Marlins win!
Bobby Witt Jr. Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
If you have been paying attention to the Royals so far this season, you would know Bobby Witt Jr. is tearing the cover off the ball. Witt is hitting .400 (10/25) with 4 doubles, 2 home runs, and a triple. Not to mention, Witt might be the fastest player in baseball.
Witt and the Royals are facing Michael Soroka and the struggling Chicago White Sox on Thursday. Soroka got roughed up in his first outing against the Tigers, allowing 4 runs in 5.0 innings pitched.
Witt has never faced Soroka in his career, but I think he can easily continue his hot start to the season, especially with Soroka’s lack of overpowering stuff.
