The Washington Capitals are making a big playoff push here in the business end of the season. Wednesday night, they’ll be on home ice against the Toronto Maple Leafs, looking for their fourth straight win. Veteran defenseman John Carlson has 40 points this season and comes in on a two-game point streak.
He also found the box score against the Leafs earlier this season. I trust the veteran to do the heavy lifting for the Caps defense tonight, and get involved on the Power Play. Our first NHL Underdog entry tonight is John Carlson Higher Than 0.5 Points against Toronto.
Wyatt Johnston Higher Than 0.5 Points
The Dallas Stars are right up there in the Western Conference, vying for the top seed. On Wednesday night, they welcome the desert dogs into town in search of two vital points. 20-year-old Wyatt Johnston has 53 points this season and comes in on a four-game goal-scoring heater.
He’s also tallied a hat trick this month, so his hands are quicker to the draw than another Wyatt who’s known well in Texas. Johnston should be given ample opportunity tonight to make it a fifth straight game with a point.
So, let’s go with the guy with a Cowboy name in the state of Texas. We’re taking Wyatt Johnston Higher Than 0.5 Points against the Arizona Coyotes.
Kevin Fiala Higher Than 0.5 Points
The LA Kings are sort of chugging right along and taking care of their business here in March.
A large part of the reason is winger Kevin Fiala’s recent play. He comes into tonight with 60 points. Tonight, the King’s opponent also happens to be Fiala’s former team, the Minnesota Wild.
The stakes will be high because the Wild are on the doorstep of that last Wild Card spot. And, with points in his last two games, Fiala is in prime position to make it a third straight tonight.
