College Basketball Picks March 3rd
Rutgers at Nebraska (-8.5) (O/U 138.5)
Never ignore the home court factor. Never in the Big 10. Seems to be a very sacred place where records are thrown out. Nebraska is a healthy 17-1 at home, backed by a 14-4 ATS record.
Rutgers enjoyed a McDaniel-less Michigan team and head on a two game road trip into the heart of the country. Going into Nebraska and visiting Wisconsin. A tough start to a schedule they must win to be in a conversation about being in a conversation. Not likely.
Covering the spread has been relatively on par with the record for Rutgers. They had us fooled, looking like a different team when Williams returned to the lineup for the first Michigan game a month ago today. They finished the month 4-4 against the spread after starting it 3-0.
Back the home team and the seniors on Nebraska as they play their last regular season home game in Lincoln. This is going to be entertaining if it comes down to bench players getting run on Senior Day during suspected garbage time.
The Pick: Nebraska -8.5
Stanford at Colorado (-12.5) (O/U 155.5)
Buried the lead a little bit above. Same theme here. Backing the seniors on Colorado to run this one up on Stanford. However, I’m not backing the spread. We’re going with the over in the game. Both teams shoot the three exceptionally well. Stanford doesn’t defend the three all that well, either.
Neither defense can be trusted enough to put any confidence behind a spread in this matchup. Expect the teams to score in a back-and-forth game. Both teams hit the over in 60+% of their games. Colorado overs are 12-4 at home. The overs are 11-4 in their last 15 games since the calendar year turned.
KJ Simpson and Cody Williams can both fill it up from deep at an efficient percentage. If nothing else, then watch this game for Cody Williams alone. Potentially top five pick and top American drafted this season, although USC’s Isaiah Collier reminded us of his potential last night.
The Pick: Over 155.5
