College Basketball Picks February 29th
Northeastern at Delaware (-5.5) (O/U 142.5)
Just a few games ago, the Delaware Blue Hens were in the thick of the CAA regular season rave but have dropped two games straight. The scores do not necessarily suggest they had chances to win both of those games, but those were contests in which they had let slip away.
They have a chance to pick up a win at a critical point in the season against an inferior opponent in Northeastern. The Huskies have won back-to-back games against two of the worst teams in the conference and may be coming into this one a tad overconfident.
Delaware knows they need to bounce back and lock in a nice spot in the conference tournament. Lay the points with the home Hens.
The Pick: Delaware -5.5
Gonzaga (-3.5) at San Francisco (O/U 154.5)
Believe it or not, the Zags are still not a lock for the NCAA Tournament on the last day of February. The win at Kentucky a few weeks ago will work wonders in the eyes of the committee.
Even with that, you simply cannot say they are 100% in. They have a chance tonight to boost their NET ranking with a road win against a very solid San Francisco team.
These two played just over a month ago in Seattle, and Gonzaga edged them by five at home. That game ended up being very close the entire contest. A late San Fran scoring drought was the difference.
This time around, the stakes are higher for both teams. I trust Mark Few to rally his team for a critical game late in the season. Gonzaga is not used to being in this spot this late.
They are the more talented bunch, and we are getting somewhat of a discount here for how well San Francisco played them on the road. Taking the bait here!
The Pick: Gonzaga -3.5
