NBA First FG Props – February 29
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Charlotte Hornets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spectrum Center – Charlotte, North Carolina
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The lead that the Hornets have here on the tip is there, but miniscule. Brook Lopez is a bit worse on the jump than Nick Richards, but the margins are by less than a percentage point. With it being a moot point on the jump we have to look to the first score success rate.
The Hornets have scored first in just 39.7% of games they’ve played this year – putting them at 28th in the league. The Bucks, on the other hand, come in at 57.6%. That number puts them top five in the league and with the clear advantage in this one.
These two teams are finishing up a home-and-home on Thursday. In the first one, it was clear that Damian Lillard was looking for the first look, but it wound up going to Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Giannis could always steal another, Lillard has been trying to get going early since the All-Star Break. In the game prior against the 76ers, he took both of the first two shots. Let’s have one fall here.
First FG Bet for February 29: Damian Lillard (+475)
Utah Jazz vs. Orlando Magic
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Kia Center – Orlando, Florida
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
If you look just at the team data for this one, the Jazz have a significant advantage on the jump. They have a 8.5% lead when it comes to winning the tip. However, that number is skewed by the amount of time that Goga Bitadze was taking the jump for the Magic. If we just look at Wendell Carter Jr’s numbers on the season, he actually has a 2.2% advantage over John Collins and the Jazz.
If that’s not enough reason to get behind the Magic, you can check out the first bucket numbers. The Jazz are dead last in the league when it comes to scoring first. They have done so in just 32.2% of games (just 19 games this season). The Magic rank 26th in the league, but come in over 10% better.
The aforementioned Wendell Carter Jr. has been getting an absurd amount of the early looks for the Magic. He’s taken one of the first three shots in each of the last three games. He’s also the only Magic who can claim such a thing. Additionally, when these two faced off back in November, he was the one to snag that first bucket.
First FG Bet for February 29: Wendell Carter Jr. (+550)
