There’s nothing like a big Tuesday to get the juices flowing. We have a few nice matchups on tonight’s slate with plenty of opportunities to cash some coin. Let’s dive in. Here are the College Basketball picks for February 27th.
College Basketball Picks February 27th
Cincinnati at Houston (-13.5) (O/U 132.5)
Houston returns home after one of the most epic games of the 2023-2024 season. They outlasted Baylor in an overtime thriller that gave us blown leads, epic comebacks, missed free throws, and overturned buzzer-beaters.
Facing one of the bottom teams in the league after that screams letdown, but fading Houston at home is not something I want to be a part of.
Both of these teams pride themselves on defense, and I believe that is what we will see here. Wes Miller and Kelvin Sampson are the top defensive-minded coaches in the entire country.
Whether Houston comes out of the gates slowly or quickly, the defense will be played tough and hard on both ends. I see Cincinnati having the willpower to stay within the number, but I feel a lot more comfortable about cashing the under here.
The Pick: Under 132.5
Akron at Ohio -1.5 (O/U 144.5)
Akron holds a slim lead atop the MAC standings and will have a very tough game on their hands with Ohio. Without a doubt, The Zips are the better team, but the environment they are about to enter will be extremely rowdy.
Ohio is three games out of the top spot and more than likely too far to gain that top spot. At the same time, they have a ton to play for. Seeding in the conference tournament is huge, as it is knocking off one of their biggest rivals.
This is a massive “prove it” game for The Zips, and I believe they have the talent and leadership to get this road win. Both of their losses have come on the road, but they were against solid teams, Toledo and Miami, OH.
I am aware that Ohio has turned a corner, but I trust this future NCAA Tournament team to right the ship on the road.
