College Basketball Picks February 20th

Tuesday offers some familiar spots within the trends of this season. Two top 25 teams are going on the road against unranked opponents. We also have two top 25 matchups. The number one overall team travels to Omaha to take on Creighton, while two additional conferences try to establish a top dog. Here are the College Basketball Picks for February 20th.

College Basketball Picks February 20th

UConn at Creighton (+2.5) (O/U 145)

If you’re ready to crown the Huskies, then crown them. But we know how the Big East works. The Huskies come off the impressive win at home against Marquette to turn around and travel into Omaha—tough back-to-back games for the defending champs. The crowd won’t be on their side here.

Creighton has lost two games on their home court by a combined 3 points. Those two home losses count as a bad year for the Creighton Bluejays. This is a tough place to go and grab a win.

Connecticut hasn’t done it since joining the Big East. When you’re the number one team in the country, then you get the game circled and all of the energy from the fans against you. They want to storm the court.

Creighton will have to do some things right tonight. They’ve been inconsistent with their standards. Both of these offenses and defenses rank inside the top 25. Both teams can score inside the arc and from deep.

Creighton’s X factor here is rebounding. I’m backing the Bluejays in this spot. It’s a tough road spot for UConn, especially with the longest win streak in the nation on the line.

The Pick: Creighton +2.5

San Diego State at Utah State (-2.5) (O/U 143.5)

We get to touch on both teams that played in the National Championship last year. San Diego State has made the statement that the Mountain West runs through them yet again this season. Utah State is tied up with San Diego State at the top of the conference going into this matchup.

The Aggies have lost three of their last five heading into this matchup. That five-game stretch started with a loss to the Aztecs on the road. Going on the road in any conference is tough, but it’s especially been a thorn in the side of the Aztecs.

They are 4-6 on the road, while the Aztecs don’t have a loss on their home court this season. That 4-6 straight-up record turns into a 2-8 ATS for the Aztecs.

This matchup features a great post-battle between Jason Ledee and Great Osobor, while both teams should be on track to make the big dance. The Mountain West may find themselves with more teams in the dance than most conferences outside of the SEC and Big 12.

The Pick: Utah State -2.5
