NBA First FG Props – February 15

Golden State Warriors vs. Utah Jazz

Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Delta Center – Salt Lake City, Utah
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Warriors have a massive lead when it comes to the early game stats in this last game before the break. The Warriors are currently ranked in the top five in the league in scoring the first bucket. Furthermore, their success rate is 23.6% higher than the Jazz, who are dead last in the NBA. The difference on the tip is quite a bit closer, with the Warriors having just a 2.2% advantage. However, the high percentage shooting of the Warriors should get them the first score here.

Not including Wednesday’s game (which is still to tip at time of publishing), we’re seeing a lot of similar early game action from Golden State. Klay Thompson is taking a lot of the early shots. In the last two games he’s taken one of their first shots, and two of their first shots respectively. Even if we’re seeing his overall production dip a bit, this trend should continue.

First FG Bet for February 15: Klay Thompson (+400)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Trailblazers

Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Moda Center – Portland, Oregon
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

There’s almost no difference between these two teams on any front that you can determine. They rank 25th and 26th in the league in first field goal percentage – just 1.1% apart from one another. They are also just 2.9% different when it comes to tip percentage. Both of those advantages belong to the Timberwolves, but that doesn’t seem enough to go that way.

In fact, there is a lot that helps the Blazers’ case too. The biggest is that When Deandre Ayton is on the tip, he has a 8.6% advantage over Rudy Gobert. In addition, the Blazers have gotten 66.7% of their first buckets this month – a nice turnaround. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, just have 33.3% successes on the month. Between the trend and the better tipper, we’ll lean to the Blazers here.

While he might not be a household name at the moment, Toumani Camara should be to first bucket bettors. He hit a few times towards the beggining of the season at better than +1000 and he’s starting to get a similar number of early looks again. He has shots in the first three attempts in two of the Blazers’ last three games. Let’s capitalize on his big numbers again.

First FG Bet for February 15: Toumani Camara (+1200)
