NBA First FG Props – February 13
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Orlando Magic
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Kia Center – Orlando, Florida
Broadcast – TNT
The advantage for the Thunder here should be very clear. They aren’t the best team on the early stats, but their lead over the Magic is enough to be comfortable taking on of their guys. They’re 10th in the league on the first bucket and 6th on the tipoff. However, when you compare that with 25th on the first field goal and dead last on the tip for the Magic – give the Thunder the first score here.
Alright, it may be the most chalk play in the league at the moment, but it’s chalk for a reason. Chet Holmgren is back on top when it comes to getting those early scores. He has four of the last six success for the Thunder. He has ten total on the year which puts him amongst the best at scoring first. With the way he hits from all ranges, I like him here again.
First FG Bet for February 13: Chet Holmgren (+550)
Detroit Pistons vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Pistons are 7th in the league when it comes to the first score at 55.8%. That gives them a 6.7% advantage over the Lakers on the year. The difference on the tip is a little bit closer at just 3.1%. However, it’s worth noting a lot of that is because Jalen Duren missed time. His rate is about 2.5% better than the Pistons’ season average. As a result, we can like the Pistons on all fronts here.
There are a number of Pistons who are getting early looks. With so many who get so many different looks, I think looking down the card here makes a lot of sense. Jaden Ivey is a player who is getting a lot of early love. He’s taken one of the first three shots in two of the three games since Bojan Bogdanovic’s departure. He had the 4th shot in Bogdanovic’s last game too, so he’s been active enough to tail.
First FG Bet for February 13: Jaden Ivey (+650)
