Another short slate last night, and you guessed it. Down goes both ranked teams on the road to their unranked conference opponents. Kurt Vonnegut said it best, ‘So it goes’. There’s no longer an appropriate reaction to these outcomes, as it has happened time and time again. Two matchups in the scope for Saturday. Here are the College Basketball Picks for February 10th.
College Basketball Picks February 10th
Auburn at Florida (+2) (O/U 158.5)
Auburn might be that good. They weren’t analytics darlings, but that’s why they play the game. If there is a time to beat Auburn, then it would be after three straight blowout wins in a travel spot. The landscape of the SEC standings could change drastically after today with these matchups of ranked teams on the road against opponents chasing them in the standings.
Florida will have their hands full with not only Johni Broome but Jaylin Williams as well. The duo put on a clinic against Alabama in their most recent matchup. However, that’s the reason for the Gators lean today.
Auburn comes off a rivalry game at home and travels to Florida in a critical SEC matchup. Florida is not a pushover. They are ranked 35th overall in KenPom and will have to flex the muscle of being the 2nd best offensive-rebounding team in the country.
The matchup that I like the most is Walter Clayton against this Auburn backcourt. The Iona transfer can get hot from deep. This will be a challenge for Tyrese Samuel against the Auburn forwards. Expect some help for Samuel by way of freshman Alex Condon. The freshman forward was able to grab 11 rebounds to pair with 5 blocks on the road at Texas A&M.
Unranked conference opponent at home vs ranked team. So it goes?
The Pick: Florida +2
Tennessee at Texas A&M (+2) (O/U 142)
Let us not forget that Texas A&M has been the runner in the SEC championship in the last two conference tournaments. This team is as well coached as nearly anyone in the country. They have two guards who can disrupt a defense in Wade Taylor and Tyrese Radford. Now they have a ranked conference opponent on their home court in primetime. College Station will show up in a big way.
Tennessee has hit the road going just 2-4 ATS. They’ve bounced back from their South Carolina loss with a win in Kentucky and a blowout adjacent win vs LSU on their home floor.
Sets up pretty nicely for not only a letdown spot ATS but an upset watch. Watching the Tennessee team down the stretch vs LSU didn’t indicate a team that should have won by 20. LSU got back into that game and it’s concerning when they now have to travel.
Taking Buzz Williams’ team on the home floor and Wade Taylor to outdoes Dalton Knecht. Take the money line on the Aggies as well because we know the theme here.
Pick: Texas A&M +2
