We head to San Diego for The Farmers Insurance Open. I know it’s early on in the season, but this is going to be the first test these golfers will face thus far. Torrey Pines is not a golf course you can fake it on. Each player needs to have their complete bag in order and, most importantly, hit the driver well. Let’s take a look at the Farmers Insurance Open DFS picks in each price range!

2024 Farmers Insurance Open: Best DFS Plays in Each Price Range
Upper Range
Patrick Cantlay $10,500
Cantlay is playing very solid golf out of the gates of 2024. He is coming off the best ball-striking season of his career, and we are seeing him parlay that into this year. Torrey Pines will give a massive advantage to the best total drivers in the field, and Patrick Cantlay maybe that guy this week. Both long and straight off the tee is what he is.
The putter has been hit or miss for Cantlay over the last few months, more misses than hits to be honest. Luckily for him, rolling a ton of birdie putts is not a requirement at Torrey Pines. Patrick Cantlay is the click at the top of the DFS Board for the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open.
Mid Range
Christiaan Bezuidenhout $8,000
A good week in Palm Springs or not, I love Torrey Pines for C Bez. Bezuidenhout is a classic fairway, green, two-putt guy, which is a great strategy at Torrey. This was my simple reasoning behind selecting Cameron Tringale at this event two years ago.
He grabbed a T3, which was a great turnout at his price point. Bezuidenhout will not give you winning equity in this event, but he plays such a safe and clean style of golf that should get him through the cut and keep the cards clean.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s birdie putt on the 18th wasn’t for first place, but it sure paid like it was.

Alex Smalley $7,200
Alex Smalley is playing some decent golf at the moment. His recent missed cut was not all bad as he gained plenty of strokes ball striking but lost many strokes on the greens. That is the exact formula we are looking for headed to Torrey Pines.
In his short career here, he has made both cuts at this event. That is super impressive for a young guy like him, but it completely checks out. Smalley is a high-end ball striker who struggles on the greens. Torrey Pines should suit his game very well.
6K Range
Paul Barjon $6,100
Pauly B looks solid back on the PGA Tour circuits. He spent 2023 on the Korn Ferry Tour and had a great end to the season to secure his card.
He was regularly a bottom-of-the-barrel PGA player, but where he does excel is long iron play. That will be important at Torrey Pines this week. Barjon is coming off a nice start at The Amex and should ride that momentum through the cutline in San Diego.
