What a two-week stretch in Hawaii. I’m so happy to have golf back. DFS and outright sweats are like nothing else. This week, we head to California to start the Cali Swing. The American Express is as cookie-cutter wedge fest as it gets. We will deep dive into stats as always, but this event will truly boil down to the golfer with the hottest putter. Let’s take a look at the best DFS plays in each price range for the 2024 American Express.
2024 American Express: Best DFS Plays in Each Price Range
Upper Range
Xander Schauffele $10,900
We are splitting hairs at the top of this DFS price range, but I believe Xander Schauffele is the answer. Xander’s route to the top is a lot wider than the rest of this range. With Scottie, you know you are getting elite ball striking, but on a course like this where the entire field is hitting wedges, Scottie’s ball striking will not be rewarded as much.
Xander Schauffele is a great DFS play because he is never out of it. As gutless as it sounds, Xander is at his best when he is just out of the golf tournament and fires that Sunday 63 to finish T3.
Outside of that, he has been the most consistent putter in this price range, which is super important this week. We know he is a top-of-the-line ball striker, which is why he is priced where he is. More than anything, it is the putter for me to land on Xander up top.
Mid Range
Tom Hoge $7,600
Tom Hoge is quietly playing some solid golf at the moment. To make matters better, he is heading to a golf course where he has played very well in his career. Multiple top-ten finishes on this track make a lot of sense, as this course really suits his game well.
When Hoge is playing well, he is doing it with his wedges, and that is exactly what we will have here. Hoge is a great insert to your 2024 American Express DFS lineups.
Low Range
Joel Dahmen $6,600
Dahmen is quietly coming off back-to-back starts where he gained over four strokes on approach. When Joel is hitting his irons well, that is when he is at his best.
This golf course will give little defense and allow the players to hit their short irons and wedges the best to light it up! Joel does his best work in these easier events, and that is exactly what we have on our hands here.
