NFL Super Wild Card Weekend: Underdog Fantasy Pick’ Em -Defense

Chris Jones Higher Than .05 Sacks

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 310-pound force at defensive tackle has a three-game sack streak coming into Super Wild Card Weekend. Jones recorded 10.5 sacks in the regular season but fell short of bringing down the Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa in their Week 9 matchup.

However, in that matchup, the Chiefs were successful in bringing Tagovailoa down three times. It will be brutally cold on Saturday evening in Arrowhead, and the Chiefs will pressure Tua. Look for Jones to get home at least once on Tua.

Elandon Roberts Higher Than 7.5 Tackles + Assists

This Super Wild Card Weekend is full of crazy weather games as the United States is being hammered by winter weather. Lake effect snow and wind gusts up to 50 mph are among the possibilities in Orchard Park this weekend.

That’ll lead to linebacker Elandon Roberts doing the dirty work in the short game. Josh Allen and James Cook should see plenty of rushing opportunities, and the Bills will try to make the most of the quick short passes. That’s where Roberts thrives.

According to our friends at DraftKings, the Steelers come into this game as 9.5-point underdogs. In four of the six games the Steelers have lost this year, Roberts has accounted for higher than 7.5 tackles + assists.

In a 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Roberts was flying around the field and racked up 15 combined tackles. In a blowout loss to the Texans in Week 4, Roberts was there for 10 combined tackles.

Stephon Gilmore Higher Than 4.0 Tackles + Assists

Big-game players show up in big games. Stephon Gilmore is one of those big game players. The 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl LII champion is ready for the spotlight in Dallas this Super Wild Card Weekend.

In seven career postseason games, Gilmore has an average of 6.3 combined tackles per game. Gilmore has gone higher than 4.0 tackles + assists in four of the Cowboys’ last five games.

Ahkello Witherspoon Higher Than 3.0 Solo Tackles

When Jalen Ramsey departed the Los Angeles Rams defensive backfield, a huge void was left that needed to be filled. Ahkello Witherspoon has answered that call. The 28-year-old out of the University of Colorado has been nothing but impressive during the Rams’ run to the playoffs.

Ahkello has reached three solo tackles in three straight games and five of the last six games. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Rams/Lions game as the highest total on the board this weekend (51.5), meaning Witherspoon should see his fair share of work in this high-flying, non-weather-affected dome game.

Lavonte David Higher Than 8.5 Tackles + Assists

Big game players in big games. Lavonte David is the next player on that list. The 33-year-old linebacker out of the University of Nebraska has been one of the best linebackers in the league since he was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

In last year’s Super Wild Card Weekend loss to the Dallas Cowboys, David had 14 combined tackles. David has easily surpassed 8.5 combined tackles in his last two playoff games. David hit this mark eight times in the 2023 season, including in the Buccaneers’ last two games against the Panthers and Saints.
