NBA First FG Props – December 16

Indiana Pacers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Target Center – Minneapolis, Minnesota
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Pacers with Myles Turner on the tip, have turned into one of the best teams when it comes to early game action. They’re currently third in the league on the tip and third in the league on the first buckets. Turner will likely be jumping against Ruby Gobert, who is winning just 36.4% of his tips. With the tip winners taking 67.1% of first buckets, the lean to the Pacers here makes all the sense in the world.

Myles Turner has snagged the most recent tips. Obi Toppin has snagged the most lately. However, I’m backing a name that hasn’t been all that active on the sheets at all. Bruce Brown took the first two shots for the Pacers last game and the first shot the game before. It’s not great that they aren’t falling, but the law of averages expects that one will soon.

First FG Bet for December 16: Bruce Brown (+1000)

Brooklyn Nets vs. Golden State Warriors

Tipoff – 8:30 pm EST
Chase Center – San Francisco, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

On the surface, the early game stats from the Warriors look far better. They have a better tip percentage by nearly 10% and a better first bucket percentage with roughly the same difference. However, those numbers are a little misleading. A lot of the Nets losses came when Nic Claxton was still hurt. His tip percentage is just above Kevon Looney’s. Between that and having the first bucket in three of the last four games – I like the Nets here.

While Claxton himself and Miles Bridges are the guys getting the common finishes, I’m going off script again here. Spencer Dinwiddie is getting a lot of the first deep shots for the squad this year. The last three first field goals that the Warriors have conceded have been to guards. If that trend continues, Spencer Dinwiddie could cash here.

First FG Bet for December 16: Spencer Dinwiddie (+1100)

New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

You don’t usually get two teams that have this big of a difference in tip data. The Knicks are winning two-thirds of their tips and the Clippers are winning just one-third. Some might be afraid of the fact that Mitchell Robinson is out for the Knicks, but Jericho Sims has won two straight jumps against respectable opposition in the last two games. I’ll take the always strong Knicks here.

Julius Randle has been getting so many early looks and he shoots with a really high percentage. With Zubac being a sub-par defender in the middle, it also makes sense to go to a Knicks big man. With Robinson out, that leaves little options on the docket.

First FG Bet for December 16: Julius Randle (+500)
