Spencer Johnson (BYU) Higher Than 7.5 Rebounds + Assists
BYU attempts to rebound after their first loss of the season against in-state rival Utah in The Holy War. The Cougars are 27.5-point favorites against the Denver Pioneers. Denver’s defense is ranked 344th in KenPom’s defensive efficiency and 306th in the opponent’s effective field goal percentage.
Surprisingly Denver has done well on the glass and limiting opponent’s assists. But that’s because the Pioneers have faced the 289th strength of schedule. The only Top 180 KenPom opponent DU has faced was Colorado State (their last game). 75% of the Rams’ baskets were assisted, and CSU outboarded Denver 31 to 23.
Spencer Johnson’s higher than 7.5 rebounds + assists is 8-1 this season. The only non-cover was the only time Johnson didn’t play 20 minutes during the game. That’s because he was in foul trouble. This might be my favorite pick I’ve given out this month.
Mason Falslev (Utah State) Lower Than 8 Rebounds + Assists
The only Utah State loss this season came on the road. Quite frankly, even with a new coach, the Aggies are notorious for having a great home-court advantage and playing worse on the road. USU is favored by 3.5 points against Santa Clara, and TCE triple-locked the Broncs during our picks show.
Mason Falslev’s lower than 8 rebounds + assists is 6-2 vs Division I opponents this season. Falslev has recorded less than 8 rebounds + assists in all three of Utah State’s road games.
Darius Brown (Utah State) Lower Than 21.5 PRA
Now, let’s add to the analysis needed for the above pick. Santa Clara is one of the best rebounding teams Utah State has faced so far this season. The Broncs are also better than average at limiting opponents’ assists.
In Utah State’s last seven games, Darius Brown has put up less than 21.5 PRA in 6 of them. In road games, Brown’s lower than 21.5 PRA is 2-1.
