College Basketball Picks December 12th
Memphis (150.5) at Texas A&M -7.5
Both of these squads have made us money thus far, and we should have a beautiful matchup on our hands as Memphis heads to College Station to take on Texas A&M. Coming into the season, Texas A&M was a very high-rated team, and they still are. Personally, I have Memphis graded higher. This game will be a pivotal measuring barometer for both teams.
Although Penny Hardaway is known for leading some hard-nosed defensive teams, this year’s squad likes to get it done on the offensive end. On the other hand, Texas A&M has one of the best defensive units in the country. That is Buzz William’s bread and butter and what they will lean on in his matchup. Reed Arena will be buzzing, and I think the Aggies will come out hot.
In such a hostile environment, scoring may be tough for Memphis in this one, which will allow Texas A&M to dictate a slower pace. Points will be at a premium in this matchup. Therefore, we will look towards the under.
The Pick: Under -150.5
Michigan (159.5) at Iowa -4.5
This year’s Iowa squad has been a true disappointment through nine games, but I am not giving up hope yet. Looking at the numbers, Iowa is shooting a very low amount of threes compared to Fran McCaffery led teams of the past. That is a product of roster construction and talent, but I can’t see an Iowa Hawkeyes team in the bottom percentages of three-point attempts all year long.
Truthfully, what they have done thus far has not been working so I believe they let it fly in their Big Ten home opener. We get them at a low after two poor performances against Purdue and Iowa State.
Michigan made some noise early in the season, but I am still extremely bearish on them. Look for the Hawkeyes to light up the scoreboard and get the job done on Sunday afternoon.
The Pick: Iowa -4.5
