College Basketball Picks December 8th

Oakland (-4.5) at Eastern Michigan (O/U 139.5)

The Oakland Grizzlies are 5-5 on the season but coming in off back-to-back losses. They hosted a very solid Toledo team on Wednesday night and lost by one. Since they defeated Xavier on the road, they have lost two of three and are surely looking to bounce back tonight.

Eastern Michigan already looks better than they did last year. They are a great case of “addition by subtraction” as they lost the NBA talents of Emoni Bates and Noah Farrakhan. Sometimes, too many elite personalities are bad for a smaller program like Eastern Michigan.

With all this being said, Oakland is the better team and in a great spot to rebound. They do have Michigan State up next, which would be a look-ahead situation, but I am banking on them rebounding off those two losses. Ride with the Grizzlies

The Pick: Oakland -4.5

Stonehill at Rider -9.5 (O/U 147.5)

1-7 hosts 1-9 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. To be honest, upfront, Rider is not nearly as bad as their record shows. They are going to be a case of a team who played a super tough non-conference schedule but will be live to win their conference.

Stonehill was playing in the Division Two ranks not long ago, and they are clearly not yet adjusted. Everyone sees them as an opponent to tee off on, which is truly a sad scene.

With Rider being in such a bad spot early in the season, they have no choice but to play their best basketball. Look for the Broncos to take care of business at home in this matchup.

The Pick: Rider -9.5
