In Thursday’s article, we asked for just a little bit of help from the gambling gods. As I live and breathe, they did not disappoint because last night we went a perfect three for three! That brings our season success rate back to over 56%, and now we’re really cooking with gas. Sadly, there are only two games on the slate on Friday night, so we will work with what we have. Because, like Sean Connery said in The Rock, “Losers go home, winners get to *%#$ the prom queen.” Here are my three best NHL Underdog Fantasy Picks for December 1.
The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for December 1
Patrik Laine Higher Than 0.5 Points
By the lofty but typical standards of Patrik Laine, his 2023 season has been quite the disappointment. The Finnish winger comes into Friday’s matchup against Ottawa with just four goals and two assists. But there are signs the Laine tide is turning, as he’s put together a mini two-game point streak.
His SOGs and overall involvement are on the rise, too, which have helped Columbus win three of their last five. Patrik has also found the box score on three occasions in his last four meetings with the Senators. So let’s ride the Patrik Laine wave while we can and take Higher Than 0.5 Points against Ottawa.
Mikael Granlund Higher Than 0.5 Points
For our second NHL Underdog entry, let’s stay in the country of Finland and key in on Mikael Granlund. To the trained NHL eye, there isn’t much to love about the Sharks veteran center here in 2023. But the Sharks have won two of their last three, and in those two wins, Granlund has tallied multiple points.
Another interesting note on Mikael is that four of his seven points this year have come against Eastern Conference opponents. Friday night, he skates into New Jersey to face a team he has tallied three goals and an assist against over his last two seasons. Let’s trust the numbers with this one and take Mikael Granlund Higher Than 0.5 Points on Friday!
Jack Hughes Higher Than 0.5 Goals
Our third NHL Underdog entry comes from the good old US of A and is none other than Jack Hughes. Since coming back from injury, Hughes is lighting the ice on fire with three multi-point games in his last six. He will also be sporting a two-game goal-scoring streak coming into Friday’s matchup against the Sharks. Another reason to love Hughes here is because the Sharks are averaging just over four goals against each time they take the ice. So let’s put this Friday night entry on ice with a goal made in the USA. Go ahead and take Jack Hughes Higher Than 0.5 Goals at home against the Sharks!
