NBA First FG Props – November 28
Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
TD Garden – Boston, Massachusetts
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Celtics currently rank first in the league in tipoffs. They also rank second in the league in first buckets. Both of those are going off at 76.5%. The Bulls have been abysmal on the tip – just 27.8% on the season and with mostly the same guy doing the work in Nikola Vucevic. As a result, you have to lean with a member of the Celtics for the first bucket on Tuesday.
It may seem to be a little chalky, but Jayson Tatum is the play on Tuesday. He has been getting tons of early looks and tons of second baskets but none of the first ones. He only has two on the year, which is a ridiculously small share, given the percentage of the offense he controls.
First FG Bet for November 28: Jayson Tatum (+460)
Charlotte Hornets vs. New York Knicks
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Madison Square Garden – New York, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Knicks are another team that you just have to back when it comes to early buckets. They have made 75% of the first field goals on the year. While some of this is due to good defense, the majority is due to the fact that they’re winning 68.8% of the tips. The Hornets have been bad on both those fronts – especially the first bucket. They have a league-worst 20% success rate in that area.
Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, and RJ Barrett are all smart picks and worth the numbers that you see on the board for Tuesday. They all have lots of early finishes and divvy up the action fairly equally. Randle seems to have gotten a touch more of the early looks. He had the first hoop on Friday and many of the early looks on Sunday.
First FG Bet for November 28: Julius Randle (+500)
Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – TNT
The numbers on the first bucket might be similar between these two teams. However, the numbers out there between these two when it comes to jumps is wildly different. The Warriors nearly have a 33% lead on tipoffs thanks in large to the Kings’ 20% tip win percentage. With 69.7% of the tip winners getting the first bucket, you have to pick someone on the Warriors.
He may not be the name on the marquee, but Andrew Wiggins is the play on Tuesday. He’s getting a lot of the early shots for the Warriors in the last few games. It also helps that no member of the team has more than two first field goals, so there is no frontrunner in terms of action.
First FG Bet for November 28: Andrew Wiggins (+650)
