NBA First FG Props – November 27
Washington Wizards vs. Detroit Pistons
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Little Caesars Arena – Detroit, Michigan
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Pistons may not be having the best season in terms of record. 2-14 is nothing you want to write your mom about, but their tip game is actually pretty solid. They’ve won 56.2% of thieir tips, which is 25% better than the Wizards. With tip winners getting 69.7% of the first buckets, that stat alone is worth taking a Pistons player. However, the fact that Jalen Duren – who has an even better rate – is back taking the jumps makes it a no-brainer.
Ausar Thompson may have just one first bucket on the year, but he’s getting so many early looks. He’s taken one of the first couple shots in each of the last couple of games. While that may not have materialized into something that makes us money yet, the line is nice enough to give it a play here.
First FG Bet for November 27: Ausar Thompson (+1000)
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Utah Jazz
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Delta Center – Salt Lake City, Utah
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
If you look at the pure stats on this game, it looks clear that the first bucket will go to the Pelicans. They have the better tip percentage by 9% and the better first bucket percentage by almost 16%. However, the Jazz have an anomaly in their stats. Walker Kessler has been out in the last eight games and they have lost every tip. He’s scheduled to be back on Monday and he’s 7-1 on the tip this year. That should give the Jazz the edge they need.
Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson were out Saturday and could also be out Monday. That doesn’t bode well for the shooting of the Jazz. Most likely, that’ll mean that they’ll lean on their inside game. John Collins has the most shot attempts of anyone left on the team for Monday outside of those two. He also has one of their five first buckets on the year. He and Kessler are both solid plays, but I’ll ride with the healthier one.
First FG Bet for November 27: John Collins (+700)
Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
The Clippers continue to be the worst team in the league on the jump ball. They have won just 20% of jumps thus far. They’re also in the bottom three in terms of scoring the first bucket at just 33%. The Nuggets are far from world-beaters in either of those categories. However, the middle of the pack in both statistics should be enough for me here to like the Nuggets.
The Nuggets have scored the first bucket eight times on the season. Nikola Jokic has scored five of those. While that’s a bit of a chalky play, the numbers are just too strong to deny. In addition, he’s coming off a game on Sunday night where he didn’t score first. Let’s regress back to the mean on Monday.
First FG Bet for November 27: Nikola Jokic (+450)
