NBA First FG Props – November 25
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Tipoff – 5:00 pm EST

The Thunder with rookie of the year front-runner, Chet Holmgren, have been on excellent early in the games (or period for that matter). They’ve won 66.7% of the tips on the year, which dwarfs the 76ers 33.3%. They’re over 13% higher on the first bucket as well. It seems like a cinch to kick off the day with a member of the Thunder.
It may seem like the chalk play, but you have to ride the rookie here. Chet Holmgren has been a big piece of the Thunder’s 11-4 start. He’s also got 44.5% of their first buckets on the season. He’s also got the best field goal percentage of all the starters and the best three-point percentage as well.

Miami Heat vs. Booklyn Nets
Tipoff – 6:00 pm EST
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Heat currently have the best tipoff percentage in the NBA. They’ve won 75%, which puts them tied with the Celtics for the best percentage in the league. They’re a little worse on the first bucket, but they still are putting up respectable numbers. The Nets trail them by more than 17% on the tip and a touch more than 13% on the first field goal. As a result, we’ll ride with a member of the Heat here.
A pair of Heat players have three first buckets on the year. One of which is Bam Adebayo, and the other is Jimmy Butler. While Adebayo shoots a bit higher of a percentage from the field, Butler is getting more of the early game looks. In fact, he took the first shot against the Knicks on Friday. I expect him to get another early look and put it away.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Neither of these teams are great off the jump. However, one of them have the worst combined percentage of tips won and first buckets scored. That’s largely due to having the second worst tip percentage in the league. The Mavericks may only be 5% better on the tip and 10% better on the first bucket, but it’s also worth noting their usual tip guy Dereck Lively II will be out on Saturday. They Mavericks are 0-2 on tips when he isn’t in the starting line-up. That combined with the fact that Ivica Zubac has back to back tip wins let’s me lean to a Clipper here.
He may not have a first bucket on the year, but Terrance Mann is taking a lot of early shots. He took the first one on Friday and the second one on Wednesday. He’s taking way less shots than anyone else in the starting lineup, but that makes this line extra juicy.
