College Basketball Picks November 24th
Belmont -5 vs. Monmouth (155.5)
Mid-Major MTE matchup coming to us from The Palestra in Philadelphia. These two teams have had very different outlooks the last few seasons and are truly not on the same level. Belmont had a bit of a down 2022-2023 season in the Missouri Valley Conference but are improved and tested.
In four games this year, they sit at 2-2 and have already faced two NCAA Tournament Teams from last season. They did not win over Furman or Arizona, but they were able to put a decent score on the board and get those reps, which is more important than anything.
Monmouth is surely improved after last season, but no where near where they would like to be. They have looked so much better through their first four games and put some seriously good scores on the board as well. Both of these teams are motivated and improved. I like them to push each other from the tip. Let’s play the total here.
The Pick: Over 155.5
Lafayette (133.5) at Penn -12.5
Penn, a good basketball team, hosts an MTE called the Cathedral of College Basketball Classic. Obviously, they won their Super Bowl after beating Philadelphia rival Villanova last week. Just one game after that, they visited one of the consensus worst teams in the Nation in Maryland Eastern Shore and lost outright. That was one of the clearest letdown spots on the board, and it is a shame that we did not take advantage of it.
Since then, they have had time to regroup and host another small school in Lafayette. The Leopards play out of Easton, Pa, which is close enough to Philly to motivate them. You know they will be playing some added fire. We see a double-digit spread here, but I believe Penn is locked in after that loss. Ride with the favorites.
The Pick: Penn -12.5
