NBA First FG Props – November 16
Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Kaseya Center – Miami, Florida
Broadcast – NBA TV
So far on the year, the team that wins the tip is coming in just under 67% in terms of getting the first bucket. The few cases where that doesn’t hold up is when a team has particularly good defense or bad shooting. Neither is the case here in this matchup, where the Heat have a 81.8% win percentage on the tip. The Nets are winning jumps at a 45.5% clip, which should mean that we have to lean to a member of the Heat here.
The Heat have a pair of players with more than one first bucket for the team – and it’s exactly who you’d think. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler both got the first score more than once on the year. Adebayo has got each of the last two, so we’ll go with variety and play Butler here.
First FG Bet for November 16: Jimmy Butler (+700)
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Chase Center – San Fransisco, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
There isn’t much difference here on the numbers for the Warriors and the Thunder. The Warriors have played an extra game, but have the same number of tip wins (7) and just one less first basket (6) than the Thunder. With Chet Holmgren seemingly getting better on the tips as of late – even beating Victor Wembanyama on Tuesday – we’ll side with the Thunder.
These two played on November 3rd against one another. In that game, Holmgren grabbed the opening tip for the Thunder and then snagged the first basket as well. He has two other first hoops on the season as well, and we’ll ride that to continue here.
