NBA First FG Props – November 12

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Clippers continue to be on of the very worst teams on the jump in the NBA. Outside of the Kings with Domantas Sabonis, no team has lost more jumps than the Clippers. They enter Sunday 1-7 on the jump and aren’t doing much better on the first buckets – 3-5 on the year. The Grizzlies have been far better in both regards on the year. They’re 6-3 on both major statistics this year, which means we’ll lean to them with a play.

While the Grizzlies have six first buckets on the season, they only have one guy who has nabbed multiples. Marcus Smart is getting a lot of the early looks and has gotten two of the six of Memphis’ first scores.

First FG Bet for November 12: Marcus Smart (+1100)

Detroit Pistons vs. Chicago Bulls

Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
United Center – Chicago, Illinois
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Bulls have a very slight advantage in terms of getting the first buckets in this game. They have been getting 55.5% compared to an even 50% for the Pistons. However, when you factor in the jump numbers, it is clear we need to lean to the Pistons for this one. The Pistons are winning 70% of the jumps, while the Bulls have just a 22.2% average. With a first possession, the Pistons should have an advantage here.

On Friday, we hit big on Cade Cunningham, who is taking the bulk of the shots for the Pistons. Not that he still isn’t, but it’s hard to nab a first bucket in back to back games. As a result, I’m going with the guy who is averaging the second most shots on the team – rookie Ausar Thompson. His solid field goal percentage should help matters.

First FG Bet for November 12: Ausar Thompson (+850)

Portland Trailblazers vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA TV

The Blazers have been phenomenal on the jump this year thanks to newcomer Deandre Ayton. However, that hasn’t helped their first bucket numbers at all. With 75% of the tips, they still just have 25% of the first scores. You can blame the 29th ranked field goal percentage for that fact. The Lakers are middle of the pack in both of those statistics, but that should be enough for me to like them here.

Anthony Davis was the best in the league last season in getting the first score. He already has two this year, but hasn’t had one since October 26th. I hate using the term ‘he’s due’, but it certainly seems the case here.

First FG Bet for November 12: Anthony Davis (+500)
