Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Sports Equinox: NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB Picks for October 30

NBA Pick: Ausar Thompson Higher 11.5 Rebounds + Assists

The 2023 fifth overall pick has impressed so far this season. Although he has not shot the ball well from the field or from three, he has shown his ability to impact the game in other ways. Thompson recorded 13 rebounds and 6 assists in a win against Charlotte on Friday and followed that up with a 12 rebound 5 assist performance on Saturday. Thompson and the Pistons face off against the Thunder tonight, who are 29th in the league in rebounding. I think he can hit this number on the boards alone.

MLB Pick: Brandon Pfaadt Higher 4.5 Strikeouts

There is no question Pfaadt has been a revelation for the Arizona Diamondbacks this postseason. The 25-year-old struggled for much of the regular season, going 3-9 with a 5.72 ERA in 96.0 innings pitched, but in the postseason, he’s been on a tear, especially with strikeouts. In 9.2 innings pitched in the NLCS, Pfaadt recorded 16 Ks against the Phillies. Texas struck out 10 times in each of the first two games of the series, so look for Pfaadt to keep this trend going against a Texas Rangers’ lineup that is prone to striking out.

NHL Pick: Connor Bedard Higher 3.5 Shots

The Connor Bedard hype was real coming into the season, and so far, Bedard has lived up to the hype. The 2023 number-one overall pick recorded a point in each of his first three games in the NHL. Bedard and the Blackhawks face the Coyotes tonight, and we’ll focus on his shots. Bedard recorded 5, 6, 5, and 4 shots in his first four NHL games before hitting a bit of a cold stretch. In his last game against Vegas, he recorded 3 shots, including a goal in a 4-3 OT victory. Look for Bedard to let some shots rip against a team that just let up 6 and 5 goals in their last two games.

NFL Pick: Davante Adams Higher 6 Receptions

Davante Adams has had a lot to say about his current employer, the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams made it clear that he wants to be more involved in the offense following the team’s less-than-impressive 3-4 start. He even sparked some trade rumors while reminiscing on his time with his former QB, stating that he and Aaron Rodgers “miss each other a lot.

I’m anticipating a steady dose of balls thrown to 17. The Lions are a physical team upfront but leave some meat on the bone when it comes to pass coverage. Simply put, the Raiders want to keep Adams a happy camper and will FEED him the ball all night.

NFL Pick: Jahmyr Gibbs Higher 26.5 Receiving Yards

Jahmyr Gibbs got his second chance to be the featured back last week against the Ravens. Although the Lions got destroyed, Gibbs came to play, especially in the passing game. Gibbs racked up 58 receiving yards on 9 receptions. Although Gibbs hasn’t been productive in the passing game all season, with David Montgomery being ruled out, look for Gibbs to keep this going against a Raiders linebacking core that is banged up.
