NBA First FG Props – October 29

The Bucks are a team that like to take a bunch of deep shots. As a result, it can sometimes be a little nerve wrecking to pick them to get the first bucket. Afterall, even if they win that tip, they might not bang their deep ball to get the first field goal. However, they’re actually shooting at a great percentage so far this year. It’s a small sample size, but they made 50.6% of their shots in their first game – 5% better than the Hawks. The jump percentage is also way better for the likely jumpers – Brook Lopez and Clint Capela respectively. Lopez nabbed 68.4% of jumpballs last year, whereas Capela only got 44.4%.
If we’re looking for the most likely Buck to get that bucket, there are a couple ways to look at it. Damien Lillard shot 20 shots in their first game and got the first shot off in their first game. He also led the team in three-pointers with 40% of the ones the Bucks took. However, under their new coach, they are shooting far less three-pointers than ever before. Given that fact, I’ll take someone to get an easy inside bucket.
First FG Bet for October 29: Brook Lopez (+700)
San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
When you look at Victor Wembanyama, you’d expect he’d be good on the tipoff. However, before we went all in on that assumption, we wanted to get some data. Well now we have it. He’s won both of his first two tips and has his team with a 100% first field goal rate. He’ll also be up against Ivan Zubac, who got just 43.4% of his tips last year and is 0-2 on the season.
As for who is going to get that bucket for the Spurs, the answer is obvious isn’t it. After getting just nine shots in their first game of the season, Wemby got 19 in the second – which led the team by five shots. He also scored the first bucket in that game and clearly became the team’s priority.
