I will highlight some guys I am higher than ECR on. Of course, start Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill. I will highlight some guys that might be tougher decisions. Here are my updated Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings.
Starts of The Week
QB, Jordan Love – GB at DEN
Jordan Love gets the Denver Broncos this week, and this is a matchup to target. Christian Watson and Aaron Jones are both expected to be returning after the team’s bye week. Love has cooled off the past few weeks, but the Broncos’ matchup offers an opportunity for him to get back into the lineup. This would be the first time all season that Love has his full complement of options. The offensive line is also getting some pieces back.
QB, Geno Smith – SEA vs. AZ
Arizona’s defense has started to give way, and there are rumors that they are going to be sellers next week. This is another matchup to target. Arizona has allowed the 5th most fantasy points per game to the quarterback position. The Cardinals have 9 passing touchdowns this season and have given up top-12 performances in three of their last four games.
Honorable Mentions: Sam Howell at NYG, Matthew Stafford vs. PIT, Daniel Jones vs. WAS
RB, Jahmyr Gibbs – DET at BAL
Jahmyr Gibbs is back, and David Montgomery is out. Gibbs saw twenty touches last time Montgomery was out. Craig Reynolds also moves into flex consideration with Montgomery out this week. Gibbs has yet to break out, and this could be a big game for him. Baltimore has allowed 7 receptions and over 100 yards to running backs over the last two weeks.
RB, Rhamondre Stevenson – NE vs. BUF
Rhamondre Stevenson played 64% of snaps, even when leaving for a short time with an injury. He continues to be used in the passing game, with 6 targets on Sunday. Buffalo is allowing 5.2 yards per carry, and their defense, specifically linebackers are very thin. Rhamondre should be in your lineup. Stevenson is trending up, and the Buffalo defense is trending down.
Honorable Mentions: A.J. Dillon at. DEN, Zack Moss vs. CLE, Roschon Johnson vs. LV, Jordan Mason vs. MIN
WR, Joshua Palmer – LAC at KC
Josh Palmer was three penalties away from a huge night. He is clearly the number two in this offense, and Kellen Moore is airing it out. I am much higher than the consensus on Palmer, and I really like him for the rest of the season. Herbert trusts him, and he has the speed to make big plays. He is a WR3 moving forward with WR2 upside on any given week. He had 4 catches and 60 yards, even with 100 yards plus a touchdown being wiped off of the board.
Top 5 Chargers PFF offense grades vs. Cowboys:
1. WR Keenan Allen 87.8
2. WR Joshua Palmer 68.2
3. QB Justin Herbert 62.5
4. LT Rashawn Slater 61.3
5. LG Zion Johnson 61.0 pic.twitter.com/DrFZ8xgk5j— Alex Insdorf (@alexinsdorf99) October 17, 2023
WR, George Pickens – PIT at LAR
Diontae Johnson is coming back. This is going to make Pickens go away. We have seen guys coming back off of Hamstring injuries and not being a full-go. Pickens has maintained a steady workload all year, and this offense will have to keep up with the Rams.
Honorable Mentions: Wan’Dale Robinson vs. WAS, Rashee Rice vs. LAC, and Zay Flowers vs. DET
TE, Jonnu Smith- ATL at TB
The Atlanta Falcons finally got a tight end! I am sure Kyle Pitts’ managers are loving the success, but you can’t ignore what Smith is doing. Jonnu has had at least 5 targets in five straight weeks. Smith and Pitts are both playing a ton of snaps in this run-first, 12-Personnel offense. Jonnu’s fantasy finishes the last four weeks: TE4, TE12, TE3, and TE15. You can also start Kyle Pitts, but Jonnu has been the more consistent option.
Honorable Mentions: Zach Ertz at SEA, Logan Thomas at NYG, and Gerald Everett at KC
Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos
Green Bay is a good fantasy defense, and their electric kick returner offers a chance to score as well. Denver is a prime matchup, and Green Bay could have a big week. Not only is Denver one of the worst teams in the league, but they are also bracing for a potential fire sale. This team looks like they have given up on multiple occasions this year, and Green Bay has had an extra week to prepare.
Honorable Mentions: NYG vs. WAS, LV at CHI, TB vs. ATL
K, Brett Maher – LAR vs. PIT
Brett Maher has been one of the best fantasy options at the position for a few years. He was passed around this offseason and landed in LA. He has failed to get double-digits only once this season. Maher was another pleasant surprise on these rebounding Rams. Maher is currently the second-highest scoring kicker on the season. Go see if he is available and put him in your lineup.
Honorable Mentions: Riley Patterson @ BAL, Graham Gano vs. WAS, and Daniel Carlson at CHI
Sits of The Week
QB, Baker Mayfield – TB vs. ATL
Mayfield came back to reality last week, and this week, he gets another tough matchup. Mike Evans has been great, but he is dealing with a hamstring injury and that hurt Baker last week. Atlanta’s A.J. Terrell offers a tough matchup and their pace of play results in lower-scoring games. Atlanta is holding teams to 20 points per game, and they are 12th against fantasy quarterbacks.
QB, Kirk Cousins – MIN vs. SF
Prime time Kirk Cousins, enough said. We all know Cousins has had his struggles in night games and in prime time. This is a long resume of letdowns, and San Francisco is a really tough appointment. Oh, and Justin Jefferson is not playing this week. Cousins’ is firmly out of lineups in 1QB, even with six teams on bye. I would even caution starting him in superflex formats. This is a tough matchup, and the situation is set up for a bad Kirk Cousins week.
RB, Gus Edwards – BAL vs. DET
Gus Edwards has not looked as good since his ACL injury. Edwards has had 6.3 or fewer points (.5 PPR) in all but one game this season. He basically has only eclipsed 52 yards once, and unless he scores a touchdown, you will be disappointed. Justice Hill is managing the passing down work, and the Gus Bus should just be parked on your bench.
RB, Javonte Williams – DEN vs. GB
Williams has struggled since returning from his injury, and he is dealing with another injury. His PPR fantasy football finishes this season have been 9.7, 7.8, 8.5, and 7.2. He missed a game and left another game early. This team is a mess, and the locker room is bracing for a fire sale. I am not touching this roster, and Javonte needs to earn his way into the lineup. He only has 51 receiving yards this year to add to the concerns.
WR, Courtland Sutton – DEN vs. GB
Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton both make the list, to be honest. But Sutton gets Jaire Alexander, and that is a tougher matchup than Jerry Jeudy will have. Jeudy is likely on the market. Green Bay almost traded for him last year. He could be on the move after this game. Denver’s offense continues to struggle, and with Jaire Alexander playing, I am sitting Sutton.

WR, Michael Pittman Jr – IND vs. CLE
You may have to start Pittman, and I get it. But, I would lower my expectations. You saw what the Cleveland Browns did to Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers. Gardner Minshew and the Indianapolis Colts have a tough road ahead. This defense is for real, and they are really stingy against the pass. Denzel Ward is one of the best corners in the game, and Pittman could finish as a WR3 this week.
TE, Tyler Higbee – LAR at PIT
The Los Angeles Rams have a lot more options than we thought they would have. Stafford looks good, and he has multiple pass-catchers. The offense is funneling through Puka and Cooper. Higbee is the odd man out, and even with Van Jefferson traded, we are seeing Tutu emerge. I know we thought Tyler was going to be the defacto #1 option or at least #2. He really is more of the 4th or maybe 5th option.
Philadelphia Eagles at Miami Dolphins
This one should be pretty obvious: Miami is the best offense in the NFL. Philly is usually a must-start. It is something to note that they have not been as good this year. They are currently down in many defensive categories. They are also 15th as a fantasy defense. There are plenty of good options this week: slide someone into the IR and add another defense. But don’t be afraid to drop Philadelphia with Miami, then Washington and Dallas upcoming.
K, Matt Gay – IND vs. CLE
Cleveland is a stingy defense, and they have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to kickers. Gay has not been consistent himself. Most of his points have come off of one big game. He has failed to eclipse 7 points in half of his games this year. Gay rounds out my Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings!
