Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 15

Alex Bregman – Lower than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Bregman was white hot going into the clinching game of the Twins series. He had five hits and six runs over the previous four games. Then he threw up an absolute dud in the finale going 0-for-4. While some might just see that as a blip in an otherwise healthy run, Bregman has a lot working against him on Sunday. The four days off usually doesn’t help hitters. It also won’t help that he faces Jordan Montgomery, who he is hitting just .231 against with no extra base hits.

Marcus Semien – Higher than 0.5 Runs

The Rangers offense is clicking on all cylinders this post-season. They scored an average of seven runs a game over the course of their series with the Orioles. When you’re hitting leadoff for that lineup, scoring a run is never all that hard.

That’s probably why Semien has a run scored in four of his last five games. It’ll also help that he’ll face Justin Verlander. He’s 14-for-43 against him all-time (.326 batting average) and is slugging .535 in that time. There should be plenty of chances for his teammates in scoring position.

Michael Brantley – Higher than 0.5 Batter Strikeouts

Not a ton of analysis is needed for this projection. Brantley has struck out in all three post-season games this year. His shortened season clearly has him in a position where he isn’t hitting like his old self at this stage of the season. There’s not a lot of history with Jordan Montgomery on the mound, but he is just 1-for-5.
