Fantasy Football Week 6 Flex Starts Based on TD Opportunity
Justice Hill – RB – Baltimore Ravens
Although Gus Edwards was the primary rusher once again last week, it was Justice Hill who received the more valuable touches. Hill received 55 percent of the snaps, 82 percent of the red zone work, and ran 17 routes compared to 11 for Edwards. He is the preferred running back on third down and close to the goal line, which has already paid off this season.
Hill has three touchdowns on the year and will be the preferred fantasy option this weekend against a tough Titans’ run defense. The Ravens will be looking to bounce back after a tough defeat and eight drops from their pass catchers too. Expect more goal-line looks from Baltimore this week, making Hill a strong candidate to score in Week 6.

Josh Palmer – WR – Los Angeles Chargers
After a hot start to the season, the Dallas Cowboys are coming off a couple of tough performances recently. They’ve picked apart subpar offenses but struggled against the 49ers and Cardinals. Enter the Chargers, who have one of the most prolific passing attacks in all of football. The Chargers rank No. 8 in pass plays per game, and Justin Herbert is No. 6 in yards per attempt.
As a result, Herbert should have multiple passing touchdowns, and Josh Palmer is one of the likely beneficiaries. He played 93.3% of the offensive snaps in Week 4 and is the clear second wide receiver ahead of Quentin Johnston. With seven deep targets and three red zone looks this year already, Palmer has multiple avenues to find the end zone this weekend.
Curtis Samuel – WR – Washington Commanders
Don’t look now, but the Commanders’ most productive fantasy receiver over the last three games hasn’t been Terry McLaurin or Jahan Dotson. Curtis Samuel has been a top-15 fantasy receiver each of the last two weeks and has tied McLaurin with 15 targets over that span. Additionally, he has outproduced Dotson in fantasy in every game this season as well. Samuel will be a popular waiver wire add this week and is underrated as a WR4 in most fantasy rankings.
Although Atlanta has a tough defense, they have been poor against slot receivers this season. Samuel ranks No. 6 in the NFL in slot snaps, and he will continue to operate primarily from that area of the field. Samuel has operated as a WR3 in each of the last three seasons. He remained healthy and has been a reliable red zone threat as well. Fantasy managers could do worse with injuries and bye weeks beginning to take a toll.
Josh Downs – WR – Indianapolis Colts
Another popular waiver wire target this week, Josh Downs, is quietly having a terrific rookie season. He has played over 70 percent of the snaps in every game and has 255 receiving yards in five games. Although Alec Pierce is in two wide receiver sets alongside Michael Pittman, Downs is the clear preferred target.
Downs is also in the rare circumstance where his quarterback (Anthony Richardson) getting injured actually increases his fantasy value. Minshew is the superior passer at this stage in his career. Despite his size, Josh Downs is a terrific deep threat, too, catching three passes over 25 yards against Tennessee in Week 5. Don’t be surprised if he takes one of those big plays to the house this weekend. Jacksonville’s defense has been poor and ranks 27th in pass yards allowed per game.
Kyle Pitts – TE – Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Pitts has disappointed in fantasy this year and has only caught three touchdowns in his entire career. Nonetheless, he is a must-start this weekend and a strong candidate to find the end zone against a poor Washington defense. They have the 20th-ranked pass defense and have given up the 2nd most points per game in the NFL. They were completely dominated by Justin Fields and a Bears’ offense that has struggled as well.
Enter the Falcons’ offense, which is coming off a breakout performance from their sophomore quarterback, Desmond Ridder. Ridder threw for over 300 yards, and Pitts recorded a career-high in targets (11). Arthur Smith will be the only potential hurdle in a matchup where Ridder can continue his success from last week.
23.0 years old
No. 5 in Target Share
No. 1 in ADOT
No. 1 Unrealized Air Yards
No. 35 in Catchable Target RateDynasty fantasy managers can still wait till this off-season, but Kyle Pitts is still going to explode with competent QB play
— Emerson Beery (@Dynasty_Analyst) October 12, 2023
It should be noted as well that although Pitts has failed to meet expectations, it’s far from his fault. He is No. 5 among tight ends in target share and No.1 in average depth of target. However, his Catchable Target Rate is only No. 34, as Ridder has struggled to find him in the passing game. While that may not change in 2023, Pitts can still shine in strong matchups.
