NEW: Adjusted around 90% of the final weights in the five-step formula we apply. With nothing but the most recent 2023 data being primed and ready, any previous data provided before and not available now doesn’t quite apply anymore. The player’s consistency and stats weigh more than the matchup strengths. So, a matchup strength may not apply to a teammate playing the same position more often.

Arizona Cardinals

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. CIN)

  1. ILB

  3. Edge
  4. IDL
POS. Cardinals Strength
IDL Jonathan Ledbetter OK ⬆️
IDL Kevin Strong Jr. OK
IDL Leki Fotu OK ⬆️
EDG Z.Collins/V.Dimukeje OK ⬆️
ILB 🟢Kyzir White Solid⬆️
ILB Krys Barnes OK ⬆️
EDG D.Gardeck/C.Thomas OK ⬆️
SAF K’Von Wallace Solid
SAF Jalen Thompson Solid
SAF Andre Chachere OK

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #26

  • Concerning Ezekiel Turner and the latest reports. Krys Barnes was cleared to play in the game against the 49ers on Sunday. That, despite having a hand injury from the previous week. However, he only saw five special teams snaps, despite the starter Josh Woods still being out, citing health concerns for that happening.
  • Josh Woods, as well as defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter, who injured his finger, are both expected to play in the upcoming game against the Bengals. Everything will still be evaluated during the week.
  • It’s our opinion if it’s not Kyzir White. Avoid this unless you’re willing to track the latest down to the wire.

Atlanta Falcons

ILB✔️ Patrick Queen Solid ⬆️
OLB Jadeveon Clowney Solid
SAF Kyle Hamilton Solid
SAF Marcus Williams Solid
SAF Geno Stone Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #18

  • Marcus Williams is back to practice, putting Geno Stone on notice if active. If he’s out, Stone is a lock with the same strength as Williams.
  • With the edge rusher’s injuries, Kyle Van Noy is something interesting to watch as his snaps increase.
  • If the Steelers can’t control the ball on their own home turf, this might be over fairly quickly. Hence, a few Baltimore players might see fewer snaps.

Buffalo Bills

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. JAC)

  1. ILB
  2. SAF
  3. IDL
  4. Edge
POS. Bills Strength
DE Gregory Rousseau OK ⬆️

ILB Matt Milano Solid ⬆️
ILB 🟢Terrel Bernard Solid ⬆️
LB/ED V.Miller/L.Floyd OK ⬆️
SAF Jordan Poyer Solid
SAF Micah Hyde Solid
SAF Taylor Rapp Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #24

  • If Jordan Poyer (knee) is out again this week, which is highly likely at this point, Taylor Rapp fits right in with the same strength.
  • Keep in mind we are basically still talking about a 50/50 share in rotational snaps across the board.
  • Von Miller reportedly could return this week in some capacity. This would clutter any appeal Leonard Floyd might have had.

Carolina Panthers

Positional Matchup Ranking (ar DET)

  1. ILB
  2. SAF
  3. IDL/Edge
POS. Panthers Strength
DE DeShawn Williams OK ⬆️
NT Shy Tuttle OK ⬆️

ILB✔️ 🟢Frankie Luvu
Strong
ILB Kamu Grugier-Hill OK ⬆️
OLB Yetur Gross-Matos Solid
SAF Vonn Bell Strong
SAF X.Woods/S.Franklin Solid
SAF Jeremy Chinn OK ⬆️

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #12

  • The drama piled up this past weekend big time. Deion Jones was demoted, but Kamu Grugier-Hill saw half his regular snaps. All while reserve Sam Franklin stepped in for Xavier Woods (hamstring).
  • Jeremy Chinn fell from 77% of the snap counts in Week 3 to 65% in Week 4.
  • Avoid all linebackers but Frankie Luvu, and sit both Sam Franklin and Xavier Woods if Woods is active to be on the safe side.
  • Franklin made an impact the last two weeks, cluttering things even more in terms of trusting something that’s already been unstable.
  • Vonn Bell is the only one we should consider good to go among the safeties.
  • Looking for a deeper play? While all this drama has unfolded, Yetur Gross-Matos has emerged somewhat. However, keep in mind in this contest, that’s likely not going to include a sack.

Chicago Bears

Positional Matchup Ranking (at WAS)

  1. ILB
  2. IDL
  3. SAF
  4. Edge
POS. Bears Strength
DE Yannick Ngakoue OK ⬆️

DE DeMarcus Walker OK ⬆️
ILB✔️ T.J. Edwards Solid ⬆️
ILB✔️ 🟢T. Edmunds Solid ⬆️
ILB Jack Sanborn OK
SAF Jaquan Brisker Solid
SAF Eddie Jackson OK ⬆️
SAF Elijah Hicks Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #02

  • Eddie Jackson is still questionable but reportedly will play. If not, Elijah Hicks hasn’t been very productive in his place.
  • All ILB’s snap counts increased, including Jack Sanborn. There is some appeal for deeper formats if it sticks.
  • Rotation among the DLs clutter almost every game with inconsistent results. Although, facing the Commanders, all of them have some appeal depending on what level of ceiling you’re looking for. We’re thinking DL2 performance out of one when it’s this good.

Cincinnati Bengals

Positional Matchup Ranking (at ARI)

  1. SAF

OLB Nik Bonitto Strong
SAF Justin Simmons Solid ⬆️
SAF Kareem Jackson Solid ⬆️
SAF Delarrin Turner-Yell Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #28

  • Josey Jewell (groin) is still questionable. Enter Drew Sanders again if he’s out with the same strength.
  • Justin Simmons (hip) is still questionable. Enter Delarrin Turner-Yell again if he’s out with the same strength.

Detriot Lions

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. CAR)

Top 3 Team-D play in Dirty-O Only Leagues.

  1. Edge
  2. IDL
  3. SAF
  4. ILB
POS Lions Strength
DE Aidan Hutchinson Strong
DT Alim McNeill Solid ⬆️

DE J.Cominsky/C.Harris Solid
ILB✔️ 🟢Alex Anzalone Solid
ILB Derrick Barnes Solid
ILB Jack Campbell OK ⬆️
SAF Tracy Walker Solid ⬆️
SAF Kerby Joseph Solid ⬆️
SAF Brian Branch Solid ⬆️

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #08

  • Use caution if Kerby Joseph (hip) plays when it comes to trusting any of the three safeties. We suggest avoiding it if that’s the case.
  • The likelihood would be either Walker or Branch takes the hit in snaps. Not to mention that on paper, this matchup is very poor, and it’s the position in the Lion’s defensive scheming that’s weighing heavy on the strength.
  • Jack Campbell increased his snaps the last two games in a row and up to his highest at 61% in Week 4.

Green Bay Packers

Positional Matchup Ranking (at LVR)

  1. ILB/Edge
  2. SAF
  3. IDL

ILB Quay Walker Solid ⬆️
OLB R.Gary/K.Enagbare Solid ⬆️
SAF Darnell Savage Jr. OK ⬆️
SAF Rudy Ford OK ⬆️
SAF Jonathan Owens Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #10

  • De’Vondre Campbell (ankle) is listed as questionable again.
  • Isaiah McDuffie can fill in nicely (productively by default) if Campbell is out.
  • Rashan Gary had 27% of the snaps in Week 4.
  • Devonte Wyatt emerged again and is back on our DT radar, especially if he overachieves in Week 4.

Houston Texans

Positional Matchup Ranking (at ATL)

  1. ILB
  2. SAF
  3. EDGE
  4. IDL
POS. Texans Strength
DE Will Anderson Jr. OK ⬆️
DT Sheldon Rankins Weak
DT Maliek Collins Weak
DE Jonathan Greenard Solid
ILB To’oTo’o/C.Harris Strong
ILB 🟢Denzel Perryman Strong
ILB B.Cashman/C.Harris Weak
SAF Jalen Pitre Strong
SAF Jimmie Ward Solid
SAF Grayland Arnold Solid

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #05

  • Interesting case: Denzel Perryman (hand) was out again in Week 4. The “vibe” and snap count still back up that Henry To’oTo’o has likely indeed replaced Christain Harris. However, at this point, all bets are off as it has dragged on and Perryman plays.
  • Not sure what to make of Grayland Arnold and his low 70% snap counts the last two weeks. It’s worth the IDP dime drop here to at least monitor one more week.

Indianapolis Colts

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. TEN)

  1. ILB/EDGE
  2. SAF
  3. IDL
POS. Colts Strength
DE Kwity Paye Strong
DT✔️ DeForest Buckner OK ⬆️
DT Grover Stewart OK ⬆️
DE Samson Ebukam Strong
ILB Shaquille Leonard OK
ILB✔️ 🟢Zaire Franklin Strong
ILB E.J. Speed Solid
SAF Rodney Thomas OK
SAF Julian Blackmon Solid
SAF Nick Cross Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #19

  • Shaquille Leonard is still at about 70% of the snaps and is now replaceable in standard formats.
  • E.J. Speed has more IDP value for the rest of the season than Shaquille Leonard per snap.
  • Julian Blackmon did emerge on all formatted league waiver wire listings, as we mentioned.
  • Unfortunately, Kwity Paye (concussion) is questionable and just entered the NFL’s protocol, making Dayo Odeyingbo an interesting dart throw in deeper leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Positional Matchup Ranking (at BUF)

  1. ILB
  2. SAF

ILB Chad Muma Strong
OLB Travon Walker OK ⬆️
SAF Rayshawn Jenkins Solid
SAF Andre Cisco Solid ⬆️
SAF Andrew Wingard Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #30

  • Devin Lloyd (thumb) is out in Week 5, so the team remains stable.

Kansas City Cheifs

Positional Matchup Ranking (at MIN)

  1. SAF

DT✔️ Chris Jones Strong
DE Michael Danna Solid
ILB Willie Gay OK
ILB✔️ 🟢Nick Bolton Solid ⬆️
ILB Drue Tranquill OK
SAF Justin Reid Strong
SAF Bryan Cook Strong
SAF Mike Edwards OK

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #11

  • Drue Tranquill played full-time in place of an injured Nick Bolton (ankle) again.
  • Mike Edwards has now played about 43% of the snaps available in the last two weeks, and he’s producing. That’s hard to trust. It appears to either eat into Justin Reid’s or Bryan Cook’s snaps.

Los Angeles Chargers (BYE)

ILB Luke Masterson Weak
SAF Marcus Epps Solid
SAF Tre’von Moehrig Solid
SAF Roderic Teamer Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #25

  • With Chandler Jones gone (released) after his arrest, Tyree Wilson saw more snaps in Week 4 with little to no fanfare. Otherwise, stable.

Miami Dolphins

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. NYG)

  1. SAF

ILB 🟢Jerome Baker Solid
OLB Bradley Chubb OK ⬆️
SAF DeShon Elliott Solid
SAF Jevon Holland Solid ⬆️
SAF Brandon Jones Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #25

  • Jaelan Phillips (oblique) is day-to-day, but current reports are favorable that he’ll play in Week 5.
  • Andrew Van Ginkel may have carved a little bigger role out while Jaelan Phillips has been out.
  • DeShon Elliott (groin) may still be out in Week 5. If so, Brandon Jones would replace him again, just not the strength at this point.
  • David Long saw another pump in snaps and cluttered or cleared up the situation, leaving us with trust issues. Depending if your glass is half full or empty. In this case, it really hurts their strengths versus the Giants.

SAF Harrison Smith Solid ⬆️
SAF Camryn Bynum Solid ⬆️
SAF Josh Metellus Solid

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #29

  • Marcus Davenport returned from his injury and played 62% of the snaps.
  • Ivan Pace has seen a reduction for three contests in a row and landed at 51% in Week 4, or he’d be stronger in strength in Week 5.

New England Patriots

Positional Matchup Ranking (vs. NOS)

  1. SAF
  2. ILB
  3. EDGE/IDL
POS. Patriots Strength
DE Lawrence Guy OK ⬆️

ILB 🟢Ja’Whaun Bentley Solid ⬆️
ILB Jahlani Tavai OK ⬆️
OLB Josh Uche Solid
SAF Kyle Dugger Strong
SAF Jabrill Peppers Strong
SAF Adrian Phillips OK

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #13

  • Matthew Judon (biceps) is scheduled to undergo surgery and miss at least two months. The thinking now is that Josh Uche will come into play.
  • DL Deatrich Wise (featured image) will also see a slight bump as an outside pass rusher, and he’s very capable of doing so.
  • It’s a very good matchup across the DLs. However, the IDL depth players (not listed) rotating in, hurts anyone not named Wise.

New Orleans Saints

Positional Matchup Ranking (at NEP)

  1. EDGE

ILB 🟢Demario Davis Solid
ILB Jack Baun Weak
SAF Marcus Maye SUS
SAF Tyrann Mathieu Solid ⬆️
SAF Jordan Howden OK ⬆️

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #16

  • Every contest, the IDLs have around 5 DTs rotating that are fairly evenly between 40% to 50% of the snaps per contest.
  • The rookie Bryan Bresee should start being a target on every IDP manager’s waiver wire wish list in deeper formats as a DT.

New York Giants

Positional Matchup Ranking (at MIA)

  1. ILB

ILB 🟢Bobby Okereke Solid ⬆️
ILB Micah McFadden Solid
OLB Azeez Ojulari OK
SAF Jason Pinnock Solid
SAF Xavier McKinney Solid
SAF Isaiah Simmons Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #09

  • Micah McFadden is becoming a very solid contributor, with an average of 70% of the snaps. So far, he’s the newest ILB trend across the NFL this season.
  • Kayvon Thibodeaux took on a tough matchup off the edge playing Seattle and overachieved in Week 4. Now he has our full attention with two straight games with great results.

New York Jets

Positional Matchup Ranking (at DEN)

  1. ILB
  2. SAF
  3. IDL
  4. EDGE
POS. Jets Strength
DE Solomon Thomas OK ⬆️
DT Quinton Jefferson OK ⬆️
DT✔️ Quinnen Williams Strong
DE Jermaine Johnson OK ⬆️
ILB 🟢C.J. Mosley Strong
ILB Quincy Williams Strong
ILB Jamien Sherwood Weak
SAF Jordan Whitehead Solid
SAF T.Adams/A.Amos OK ⬆️
SAF Adrian Amos Weak

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #01

  • Although Adrian Amos has been producing, we assume he’s still the backup to Tony Adams (hamstring).
  • The consistency in playing time versus production across the DLs is sporadic in both directions. Hence securing Quinnen Williams as the only trustworthy play in a strong matchup. The two other IDLs listed are the rotational (production) winners per snap in Week 4. Minus Jermaine Johnson, who saw a reduction in snaps in Week 4.
  • The biggest name to say was removed was DE/DL John Franklin-Myers. He does play as much as any of the other “starters”, but since Week 1 has done very little while the recently added has. So, with the Jets, we’re making an exception and opting to go with IDP targets over a normal depth chart.
  • In deep IDP degen leagues, this will be handy for the NFL bye-week as deeper dart throws this week.

Philadelphia Eagles

Positional Matchup Ranking (at LAR)

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #14

  • Haasan Reddick should have had way more against the Commander’s weak edge numbers in Week 4.
  • Nakobe Dean is eligible to return from the I.R. in Week 6.
  • Justin Evans (neck) is still questionable.

Pittsburgh Steelers

SAF Damontae Kazee OK ⬆️
SAF Keanu Neal OK ⬆️

Team-D Opponent Production Rank: #22

  • Elandon Roberts blowing up in Week 4 with (just) 59% of the snaps doesn’t help anyone heading into Week 5 in a strong ILB matchup.
  • Mike Tomlin has screamed that something going to change really, the only major thing wrong again is the inside linebackers on defense.
  • So we think Roberts is about to get a bump; just don’t bank on it in Week 5, maybe not even in Week 6, as Tomlin goes.
  • If it matters, it seemed Kwon Alexander was the ILB that took the hit with Roberts’s performance underway last weekend.
