Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Should I Start?

Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Should I Start?

We are three weeks into the fantasy football season, and your preseason rankings should be thrown out at this point. There is a lot of data, injuries, and other information that can guide you. Do not panic. Last year, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was a top-five running back at this time. These quarterback injuries affect the entire offense, and some teams have just had bad matchups. Let’s talk about my Week 4 fantasy football rankings.

Week 4 Starts of The Week

QB, Daniel Jones – NYG vs. SEA

The Giants have had a rough start, and they have another prime-time game. They don’t expect to have Saquon back, but they are getting some reinforcements. Daniel Jones is expected to get both his starting left tackle and his left guard back. Jones continues to be a fantasy producer on the ground, and these offensive line reinforcements will help. Getting Andrew Thomas back will make a huge difference in the game.

QB, Brock Purdy – SF vs. ARI

Brock Purdy faces the Cardinals, who are currently allowing the 10th most fantasy points to quarterbacks. I am four spots higher than the expert consensus. Purdy is my QB11 this week. He gets a soft matchup, and this offense is just rolling. Purdy has finished QB10, QB24, and QB13 so far this season. Last week was his first 300-yard passing game of the year, and should cruise again. The 49ers are rich with talent, and Purdy is just John Stockton playing point guard back out there.

RB, Rhamondre Stevenson –  NE @ DAL

Rhamondre Stevenson had a tough week last week. I am expecting a bounce back. Dallas was not the same last week, and they showed they were human. Stevenson’s usage actually went up. He has consistently had at least 18 touches, and volume is king in fantasy football. Last week, we saw James Conner finish RB6. I have Stevenson four spots higher than the expert consensus rankers.

RB, De’Von Achane – MIA @ BUF

Achane absolutely broke out last week, and no one should expect him to do that again. But I do have him as a flex play this week and someone you can consider for your RB2. His production in Week 1 and 2 could have been due to his preseason injury. He had a lack of reps because of it and was banged up. This is expected to be a closer game, but Achane’s usage in the passing game and ability in space can’t be ignored.

WR, Tee Higgins – CIN @ TEN

Tee Higgins absolutely let people down, and it felt worse because it was on national television. Again, volume is king, and he is averaging nine targets a game. Higgins struggled a bit with drops and is not getting the deep plays downfield. But he is still getting targets. Don’t panic. You can still flex Higgins or play him as a WR2 or WR3.

WR, Michael Pittman Jr. – IND vs. LAR

Pittman has been consistent this year, and this offense has been better than advertised. Anthony Richardson is expected to return, but I am not fading Pittman because of it. The passing offense has gone through him, and the opportunities have been consistent. Love the targets, 34 in three games and 25 receptions during that time. He has only scored one touchdown and is still WR10 on the season so far.

TE, Pat Freiermuth – PIT @ HOU

Diontae Johnson being out leaves a lot of targets to go around. Pickens has gotten an uptick, and we have seen more Calvin Austin. Pittsburgh had their best game last week, and Freiermuth was heavily involved. He is still one of the top red-zone targets, and this matchup is just great. Of course, you start Waller and LaPorta, but I still have Freiermuth inside my top ten.

K, Younghoe Koo – ATL @ JAX (London)

The London games are weird, and the offenses tend to struggle. One thing that we see when offenses struggle is that they end up settling for field goals. Koo has a big leg and is one of the more accurate kickers in the league. Look for him to have one of the bigger kicker weeks in Week 4.

D/ST, Kansas City Chiefs – KC @ NYJ

The Chiefs are not typically a defense to target in fantasy football. But the Jets are definitely a team to stream against every single week. I don’t just like the Chiefs this week; I love them. I have them at the #4 spot and expect them to give Zach Wilson a lot of trouble. They have a four-time Super Bowl-winning defensive coordinator and an all-time bad quarterback.

Week 4 Sits of The Week

QB, Joe Burrow – CIN @ TEN

I have Burrow outside of my top 12, ECR has him at QB9, and I have him at QB14. Burrow is QB30 on the year. He offers zero rushing ability and is not throwing the ball downfield. He is extremely limited and has 563 yards with 2 touchdowns on the season (three games). The last time Tennessee played Cincinnati, they sacked Burrow nine times. I am starting Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, and Daniel Jones and not letting Burrow start until he earns it.

QB, Dak Prescott – DAL vs. NE

Dak Prescott has not played well this year, and New England ranks 3rd against fantasy quarterbacks. He has failed to score inside the top 16 in all three games this season. The team is banged up. Three offensive linemen are questionable. Dallas lost to Arizona when these linemen missed time, and the offense really struggled. Dak continues to throw picks and make bad decisions around the goal line. Sit him and thank me later.

RB, Rachaad White, TB vs. NO

The Saints have notoriously been a stingy run defense, and Rachaad White has been pretty really inefficient. New Orleans has kept teams under 20 points in 11 straight games. White has not been used as much in the passing game to offer the safe floor we dreamed of. Even with the 17-20 touches per game, he has had 7 or fewer points in two out of three games. The only good game was against Chicago. Matchups matter, and I am not testing the Saints.

RB, Khalil Herbert, CHI vs. DEN

Herbert is close to getting replaced by Roschon Johnson, but we can’t trust competent coaching to do that, so I am sitting both. Herbert and Johnson have struggled as they share very little fantasy production to go around. This offense is broken, the quarterback is playing poorly, and it’s ugly. I don’t think even the Broncos could help save them right now. I will sit Herbert and Johnson. If I am wrong, I am wrong. There are many much better options.

WR, Jahan Dotson, WAS @ PHI

Washington has struggled this year, and Dotson was unable to take advantage of Terry McLaurin’s injury. Howell and the offensive line continue to struggle, and this offense is still trying to figure stuff out. Dotson is currently WR74, and he has not reached 10 points in three games. Dotson’s finishes this season, so far, are WR46, WR82, and WR84. Dotson is a must-sit and is moving towards droppable if this continues.

WR, Garrett Wilson, NYJ Vs. KC

Zach Wilson has been playing far below average, and it is costing the entire team. The offense can’t sustain drives and stay on the field. They are getting very few scoring opportunities, and if Wilson does not break a big one, he will likely let you down.

TE, Kyle Pitts – ATL @ JAX (London)

I am doing this for you. I hope this one is wrong. But Pitts is not someone you can put in your lineup every week. I know you probably drafted him very high, but that goes out the window in Week 4. Pitts has played in three games and has totaled 9 receptions, 100 receiving yards, and 0 touchdowns. He is the TE19 on the season and is just not getting opportunities.

K, Joey Slye – WAS @ PHI

Slye was pretty bad last week. He only made one field goal. The offense has been pretty bad for most of the year, and there have not been a lot of opportunities. Philadelphia is a terrible matchup, and things are not expected to be any easier. Slye has only had seven field goal attempts and five extra-point attempts so far this year.

D/ST, Buffalo Bills – BUF Vs. MIA

The Buffalo Bills are one of the top defenses and usually a start. They get the red-hot Miami Dolphins in Miami. There are too many good streaming options and good matchups this week. Buffalo is outside of my top 15. This should be a shootout, and I do not want either defense.
