Top 10 Devy Quarterback Rankings: Where Does Shedeur Sanders Rank?

The West Coast is where most of the top college quarterbacks are. Caleb Williams is the clear-cut number one QB, but who is number two? Quinn Ewers beating Alabama has raised his stock, but Drake Maye is the incumbent number two QB. Shedeur Sanders was on the rise, but Oregon put a wet blanket on his hot streak. Sanders may not even come out until 2025. Bo Nix and Michael Penix are making cases to be 1st round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Top 10 Devy Quarterbacks

1. USC, Caleb Williams – Class of 2024

Caleb Williams is the best quarterback prospect since Trevor Lawrence, and he is drawing Patrick Mahomes comparisons. Let’s slow down on the Mahomes comps, but the talent is undeniable. Williams has it all, and his learning under the tutelage of Lincoln Riley gives you an extra level of confidence. Caleb Williams is the prototypical player in today’s NFL. He is athletic and creative outside of the pocket with the arm talent of a pocket passer.

2. North Carolina, Drake Maye – Class of 2024

Drake Maye has been the number two quarterback of the 2024 class for a while. He will not hold that title much longer if he continues to play poorly. This season, he has as many interceptions (4) as he does touchdowns (4). Maye threw zero touchdowns against Appalachian State. This is a player that threw for 38 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions just last season. Maye also offers a rushing upside. Last season, he had 698 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.

This season, he is off to a rough start, but as far as his numbers, he still has 891 yards passing to go with 116 rushing. Maye is completing a career-high 72.5% of his passes. The team is also 3-0 to start the season. That being said, Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers are nipping on his heels. Maye will need to play better to maintain that top spot and continue to be seen as a top-five NFL Draft pick.

3. USC, Malachi Nelson – Class of 2026

Lincoln Riley continues to develop Heisman-winning quarterbacks. Caleb Williams is next, but Malachi Nelson is the future. Nelson’s situation is elite between the coaching staff and the receiving options he will be walking into. Nelson was a top-ranked quarterback coming out of his class. He can do it all. This kid is a superstar in the making, and that is why I have him already so high on this list!

4. Texas, Arch Manning – Class of 2026

Arch Manning was the most well-known but not the top quarterback recruit in his class, according to ESPN. He was still one of the best, and he got dropped into an amazing situation. Texas is back, and with Arch Manning there, they won’t be leaving anytime soon. Manning comes from NFL royalty, and his name value alone brings a lot of weight to his devy value. His athletic ability is different than his uncles or grandfather, making him better suited for today’s NFL.

5. UCLA, Dante Moore – Class of 2026

Dante Moore goes to a great situation under Chip Kelly with a team that is collecting playmakers. Moore might be more polished than his classmates and could see some playing time early. Kelly is not shy about playing younger players, and Moore has a lot of reps. He is an athletic quarterback but not a rushing quarterback. Moore is more of a pocket passer with a quick release and pinpoint accuracy.

6. Washington, Michael Penix Jr. – Class of 2024

When you look through the PFF Premium stats, it is hard to ignore Michael Penix Jr. Penix is in the top five in every major category. He played well; some would consider his days in Indiana as a breakout. Penix’s stock really took off when he got to Washington. He is surrounded by weapons, and this high-flying offense is putting up gaudy numbers. Penix’s age is the big question mark, but his play on the field can not be questioned.

7. Texas, Quinn Ewers – Class of 2024

Quinn Ewers is a polarizing prospect, and he still has a lot to prove. His performance against #3 ranked Alabama was huge for his resume. In this performance, Ewers was impressive, throwing for three touchdowns and zero interceptions. If he continues to stay mistake-free football, we could see him rise up NFL draft boards. Ewers displays NFL arm strength and is an accurate passer. His slight frame will be discussed during the draft process.

8. Colorado, Shedeur Sanders – Class of 2024

Shedeur Sanders is making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado look easy. He was playing like an early Heisman favorite the first three weeks. Sanders was leading the country in completion percentage and was second in yards. This weekend was a big setback, and the news he might not come out until 2025 did as well. Sanders is a name to watch. His dual-threat ability is very intriguing for fantasy football purposes.

9. Oregon, Bo Nix – Class of 2024

The Oregon version of Bo Nix has been extremely impressive, and his development has been steady. This weekend, his dominance of Colorado made a strong case for him to move up your rankings. Nix played extremely well last year, and the biggest knock on him was the struggles he had at Auburn. He is playing like a Heisman candidate again this year, and you have to give him his flowers. Bo Nix is moving up everyone’s draft boards.

10. Clemson, Cade Klubnik – Class of 2025

Klubnik versus Allar will be a conversation that continues to be had in devy quarterback rankings discussions. He is an extremely accurate passer with more than enough arm strength. Cade does a great job layering the ball and puts a great touch on his passes. His ability to scramble and make plays outside the pocket is the edge. He is not a dual-threat, but a good athlete and good off-schedule thrower.
