Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – NFL Week 3
Desmond Ridder Higher 13.5 Rushing Yards
In the first two weeks of the NFL regular season, the Lions have allowed the opposing quarterbacks to get over this projection. In Week 1, Mahomes rushed for 45 yards on six carries.
Additionally, Geno Smith ran for 20 yards on three attempts in Week 2. Ridder is no stranger to utilizing his legs during the game. In fact, Ridder in Week 1, Ridder rushed 10 times for a total of 39 yards. I do expect Ridder to utilize his running ability in this game against the Lions. I like Ridder to go higher than 13.5 rushing yards.
Jake Ferguson Higher 26.5 Receiving Yards
Last week, I took the higher on Darren Waller, fading the Cardinals’ defense against the tight end position. Waller easily went higher than his projection of 41.5 yards, finishing with six receptions with 76 receiving yards. Despite not going higher on this projection in either of the two games this season, this is a good buy-low position for Ferguson.
The Cardinals remain one of the worst defenses against the tight end position. In fact, thus far this season, the Cardinals are allowing an average of 5.5 receptions on nine targets per game for 85.5 receiving yards. I will go higher on Ferguson’s receiving yards in this matchup.
Justin Fields Higher 58.5 Rushing Yards
Countless issues are happening with the Bears organization, both on and off the field. However, in so many words, Fields has said he is overthinking. This makes me think he will go back to be Justin Fields, the running quarterback, this week against the Chiefs.
In fact, in Week 1 against the Packers, Fields rushed nine times for 59 rushing yards. With a much-improved pass rush with the return of Chris Jones for the Chiefs defense, I expect the defense to put pressure on this offensive line and enable Fields to run the football. I’ll take the higher on Justin Fields’ rushing yards this week.
Jaylen Warren Higher 15.5 Receiving Yards
Najee Harris has not looked right for the Steelers backfield thus far this season. Luckily for the Steelers, Warren has been able to step up for the offense, especially in the passing game. Through the first two weeks of the regular season, Warren has a total of nine receptions for 78 receiving yards.
Furthermore, the Raiders are allowing the third most receptions to the running back position and are top 10 in receiving yards allowed. Lastly, Warren saw a 3% snap count increase from Week 1 to Week 2. I’ll take the higher on Warren’s receiving yards this week.
Tank Dell Higher 3 Receptions
The Texans offense lost Noah Brown prior to Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, and Tank Dell seized the opportunity. In the first two weeks of the regular season, Dell has caught at least three passes.
In fact, in Week 2, Dell saw an increase of 31% in snap counts and finished the game with seven receptions on 10 targets, which led the Texans wide receiving group. I expect the same production from Dell in this week’s division matchup in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. I love this Underdog Fantasy NFL Week 3 Pick!
Amari Cooper Higher 57.5 Receiving Yards
There’s no question that Amari Cooper is the #1 wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns offense. Despite dealing with a groin injury he suffered in practice last Saturday, Cooper was able to catch seven catches on 10 targets for 90 yards. Cooper and the Browns take on one of the worst pass defenses in the league thus far this season in the Titans.
In fact, the Titans are allowing 281.5 passing yards per game, which ranks fifth most in the league. Additionally, the Titans are allowing 7.6 per pass attempt. I like Amari Cooper to have another big week against the Titans secondary.
