Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – NFL Week 2
Christian McCaffrey Rushing + Receiving Yards Higher 97.5
Christian McCaffrey got off to a fast start last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He finished the game with 152 rushing yards and 17 receiving yards on five targets. In Week 2, McCaffrey and the 49ers will face division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams. Last week, the Rams won in convincing fashion against the Seahawks.
However, the area of weakness for the Rams was their rush defense. In fact, the Rams allowed the Seahawks to rush for 4.7 yards per carry. Furthermore, Kenneth Walker rushed for 5.3 yards per carry. McCaffrey has had plenty of success against the Rams in his career.
Last season, McCaffrey faced the Rams twice and accumulated 158 and 149 total yards, respectively. I expect McCaffrey’s success to continue against the Rams in this game. I love the Higher 97.5 of rushing + receiving for McCaffrey against the Rams.
Darren Waller Higher 41.5 Receiving Yards
There’s no secret that the Giants are coming off the worst loss in Week 1 against the Cowboys in a long time. But I believe the Giants will respond in Week 2 against the Cardinals in a big way. Darren Waller should have a big role in that task in Week 2. Despite a Week 1 loss, Waller accumulated 36 receiving yards on five targets and three receptions.
Last week, against the Commanders, the Cardinals allowed the tight end position to accumulate 10 targets. As a result, this led to five receptions and 60 receiving yards.
Furthermore, last season, Waller played the Cardinals in Week 2 and finished the game with six receptions resulting in 60 receiving yards. Lastly, last season, the Cardinals allowed the third most receiving yards and the most receptions to the tight end position. I expect a big week from Darren Waller, so take the higher 41.5 receiving yards.
Rhamondre Stevenson Higher 50.5 Rushing Yards
Despite having a less-than-stellar Week 1 against the Eagles, I expect Stevenson to bounce back in Week 2 against the Dolphins. Last week, Stevenson accumulated only 24 rushing yards on 12 attempts against the Eagles. Let’s not forget that the Eagles have one of the stronger rush defenses in the NFL.
However, this week’s matchup against the Dolphins is a favorable matchup for Stevenson. In Week 1, the Chargers running backs ran the ball 32 times, accumulating 208 rushing yards. That’s an average of 6.5 yards per carry! I believe this is a buy-low spot for Stevenson against the Dolphins. I will take the higher on Stevenson against the Dolphins.
Geno Smith Higher 12.5 Rushing Yards
I am going to buy low on this stat projection for Geno Smith in this game against the Lions. This game is projected to have plenty of points scored, and the offenses should be able to move the ball at will in this game.
Last week, Mahomes scrambled for 45 yards on six attempts against the Lions. Further, last season, the Lions allowed the most rushing yards to the quarterback position at an average of 41.2 yards per game. That was 10 yards higher than the Dolphins, who allowed the second most rushing yards to the quarterback position.
Khalil Herbert Lower 44.5 Rushing Yards
The Chicago Bears will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are coming off the upset of the week in NFL Week 1 against the Vikings. The Buccaneers were led by their stellar defense, in particular their rushing defense. In fact, the Bucs rush defense allowed a total of 34 yards on the ground on 14 carries.
In Week 1, four players rushed the ball for their team, including quarterback Justin Fields. In addition, Herbert shared the backfield with three other running backs and carried the ball only nine times, resulting in 27 rushing yards. I believe the Buccaneers’ rush defense will rise to the occasion again and limit the rushing attack of the Bears.
Stefon Diggs Higher 74.5 Receiving Yards
Week 1 could not have gone any worse for the Buffalo Bills against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Despite the Jets losing their starting quarterback within the first two minutes of the game, the Bills were not able to capitalize. However, the one bright spot for the Bills was their All-Pro wide receiver, Stefon Diggs.
Diggs finished the game with 10 receptions and 102 receiving yards. There is no question that Diggs will lead the team in targets week in and week out for the Bills, despite having success against the Broncos in their Week 1 matchup. I expect the Bills to bounce back in a big way against a bottom-fourth-ranked secondary.
